Ricky is a great fighter, there's no doubting that, anyone who says otherwise is a hater. sure he had a couple of bad rounds tonight and a bad fight against mayweather but come on, laczano landed a couple of punches which rocked him and he lost to one of the best fighters ever, no shame in that. everyone has an off day.

however i agree about the trainer, i feel if they weren't such good friends he'd be gone. also it can't be good having a trainer who smokes 20 a day.

You're forgetting the bad day vs a feather-dusting Collazo. And a crappish outing vs. urango.

At a certain point, we have to stop making excuses and admit that there's substantial justification/room for improvement.

Depends on your definition of "great". I say Ricky is a good-to-very-good fighter. Well short of "great".

Personally I think Hatton done very well to beat Collazo.

He's a bigger stronger man, faster, and Hatton felt the weight of a welterweight punches not to mention was a southpaw.

Possibly the worst piece of match making in recent memory. Collazo would beat Hatton 7 times out 10 IMO.

Collazo is feasibly a light middleweight.

But if Ricky wants to fight another 5 or 6 fights, he needs to switch it up.

Frankly, the Hatton that fought today would ALSO get beat by Bradley. Probably knocked out.

Actually he got a new cotrainer before this fight.I seen him on a british news on youtube.

I heard that co-trainer was just 'padding' him and that Graham still had lead, and that they still used that ridiculous bodybag.

At this stage of his career a new trainer wouldn't make a difference.

hatton's technique has really suffered ever since he beat Tszyu... not sure if it's because of Graham or the rise in level of competition, but it sucks.

Arturo Gatti showed marked late-career improvement in his boxing abilities. And he is probably less athletic than Ricky. And Arturo had a better chin, so he could more afford to brawl.

Ricky can still get better at moving his head and not lunging in.

Wow, that's the first time in a long time I heard Gatti had a good chin.
Don't make me go through his ko and tko losses and how many times he got dropped in his career.

Warrior yes, good chin, not really.

gave 2 rounds to lazcano and one even.

in post fight honest gentleman hatton admitted to being nervous and i seen an anxious hatton making it harder then it should of been.
but that lazcano absorbed those bodyshots and ate plates of leather.
                      and wobbled ricky.

yes i thought ref helped ricky.
i'm a yank and i also thought versus guys was bias towards lazcano.
