Hatton was considered a threat and on Mayweather's level... till he got dominated and KOTFO. Same with DLH. Do you know what the odds were in those fights? They were slim. Not 1:1, but it's rare to find ANY boxing match that slim.
If I was Mayweather, I'd be doing the same god damn thing. Why am I going to work for 10 million when I can work for 50.
Brother you hit the nail on the head, but hate blinds people, going into those fights many had Mayweather losing his first fight, but after they lost, oh its they were never good enough to win in the first place. They simply just dont like Floyd, anyone with sense would rather make take more than less, but hate blinds, its really a sign of flattery.
Honestly, what is this? You have to be a huge star and sell millions of PPVs just to fight Mayweather? Who does he think he is? Its ***ing boxing, the best should fight the best. But Mayweather thinks he too good to fight anybody just because Hatton and De La Hoya made him sh! loads of money.
Mayweather fought a guy from England in HIS now hometown. In HIS country. Yet the entire arena booed Mayweather and cheered for Hatton. Same against Oscar.
I just dont like how he goes about things. He shows no hunger or desire to fight. He just wants money. And if he dont make tons of money he wont fight. He dont care about staying active, fighting top fighters, or any of that.
I respect what Mayweather did until he hit 140-147. Since then i dont like the career moves he has made and lost respect for him.
I think if he got his **** together and fought the best instead of piecing out guys like Hatton, who wasn't on Mayweather's level to begin with, the sport would be better.
If Floyd had already fought Cotto and a few of the other welters the sport would have more credibility, just like that, I agree. The hardcore fans would certainly be happier and I think that perhaps that casual fans might have a better appreciation not only of who was the best, but also why. They would have seen Mayweather beat his division and understand boxing better.
Mayweather understands perfectly though that boxing is about the perceptions of the occassional PPV buying casual fan, many of whom may not know the difference between prime Oscar and the Oscar of 2008. They just remember that was the last PPV they bought and that Oscar is 'great'. It is exploiting this perception that enables Mayweather not only to get away with his exhibition fights, but justify them too, at least in his own mind.

both of you are ****ing idiots. you girls CONTINUE to say that everyone thought Hatton, Baldomir and DLH were on Floyd's level, that they were even at odds, that Floyd was the under and I CONTINUE to..

The fact is, Floyd has always been the HEAVY favorite odds wise and in general opinion since the Corrales fight.

you pretty much summed it up...Mayweather feels he has already fought the best and doesn't have to fight 3 times a year...he can fight once a year and make the same money and probably more...he's handpicking the fighters he wants to face which are big draws...he's going to fight dlh and hatton again for god sakes...i don't agree with mayweather but that's the route he's going
