Margarito knows that it'll be better for him if Cotto chooses to go toe to toe with him, I think Cotto will box him to a clear UD.

the guy has never been napoleon.what you get from him is what you always get.[4 some other post]and to say he needs to be slick enough is moronic.williams is far from slick, and easy to hit cause there's so damn much of him to hit.

Cotto has never had to fight going backwards. Always fighting dudes somewhat smaller than him. Big props for the Shane Mosley win. But Shane has nooooooooooo defense which is why he is so popular... he gets into brawls he could have avoided if he moved his upper body and was a tad more defensive. Judah really has nooo defense and a glass jaw. I think Cotto is a tad overrated. I like him but I don't buy the hype. Margo is a little overrated himself but in this particular case I think the taller stronger man will win. Margarito will make him go backwards and Cotto won't be ready for that since he has never had to box like that. They both hit with power but I've seen Cotto's power fade a little after the Judah fight. I mean he never hurt Shane at all. Gomez was getting thrown around but he is terrible and i for one, don't count that fight. So here we are. Margo is taller, hits just as hard, but MOST importantly... can take the punishment too. Cotto was shaken in fights against so-so punchers (Corley had him dancing with the stars, Paulie caught him off balance, Torres knocked him down, Judah twice). Margo kept coming at Paul Williams like he had a helmet on or some sort of protective device. Margo wins in a hard fought well, deserved victory. Only one fighter in boxing can have a terrible day and still win by landslide victory - Pretty Boy Floyd Money Mayweather. Cotto loses in a shocker like Jones vs Tarver I. Peace and love ya'll

I would like to see Cotto mix it up in this fight switching between brawling and fighting off the backfoot. I think if he comes out strong in the first round he could take some steam out of margarito and make a psychological statement to him, keeping him from gaining momentum and being so aggressive.

A couple thinks I noticed about Margarito in the Williams fight: Williams was tagging Margarito with the jab pretty consistently, every time this happened Margarito covered up and for a split second stopped moving his feet and reset his offense. Most of the time when this occurred, Williams simply moved to the side out of Margarito's range. Cotto's team needs to pick up on this and use it to do the same and work the body.

Couple of things about Cotto, when he boxes he tends to let his back hit the ropes to often. Number one thing is to avoid this scenario, if he does hit the ropes he needs to avoid bending forward (uppercut) and trying to duck or slide off the ropes on Margarito's right side (looping right). If he gets in this position he needs to take the initiative to fight his way out with short straight counters to Margarito's wider slower punches.

                  Cotto vs. Margarito

Cotto will outbox him. Margarito is beatable, he already lost 5 times and was losing the fight with Clottey.

Cotto wins because he is just overall more talented and the better fighter. If Margarito catches him on the chin cleanly than I think it's good night Cotto. However I don't think that's going to happen even though I'm sure Margarito will land some viscous body shots, Cotto will do the same. The difference is Cotto can resort to Boxing and moving and Margarito can't
