Ok, the UK does have a reputation for over protecting their fighters. That is true. But you are way off the mark with your assessment of their abilities. Are people seriously judging Calzaghe on his performance against Hopkins? I mean who looks good against Hopkins? Hatton lost to the P4P#1, no shame there - he did beat some good fighters before that. Haye successfully unified his division and did it in style. He's moving up to prove himself in a different weight class. Khan is really still a prospect, but already shown a lot of talent. He is nothing like Prince Naseem in style, how can you even compare?

British fans stick behind there fighter no matter what even if there's a loss along the way, some of you yanks jump ship and go onto the next available hype job.

Lacy is the perfect example of this.

Calzaghe is a feather fisted over protected bum! Amir Khan is a glass chinned duplicate of the biggest fake of all Naseem Hamed! Now comes David Haye. America remember this post! He is a fake! The UK fighters are well managed and over protected. Look at who Joe C has fought. He fought Jeff Lacy and and 70 year old Bernard Hopkins! Now he's looking to fight Roy Jones? Why not prove you are what you claim and fight someone like Kelly Pavlik,Chad Dawson or hell, I'll settle for Jermain Taylor even though I don't think he's a A Class fighter he's at least dangerous. I will bet anyone that if any of those fighters the UK are over EVER step up in class they all get sent back home in shame like Frank Bruno,Naseem Hamed and Ricky Hatton. The good thing is they come home to the World's Greatest Fans and you still love them to pieces!
i wouldn't call calzaghe a garbage fighter, but he did barely get past an over-the-hill Hopkins. And it doesn't make sense for calzaghe to fight the shell of RJJ.

I really think a lot of these guys hammering Calzaghe and Hatton in have maybe only seen Hatton v PBF and Calzaghe v Hopkins.

I think some of the better ones have maybe only seen those two plus Hatton-Tszyu and Calzaghe v Kessler + Lacy.

Calzaghe had lots of good fights though against good opponents.

Haye - Ring CW Champ - The man at cruiser

Its not really hype when you're talking about recognised, linear champs my friend. Its just fact. That you fail to recognise this indicates to me there is something more than just appreciation of boxing at work in your opinion, and it smells like heavy bias.
on the contrary, I agree that Lacy,Taylor and possibly Williams are bums! I don't care if Calzaghe came from the UK ,US or China. Beating Kessler,Lacy and an old Hopkins will not change my opinion. Now, if he fought Pavlik,Dawson,Miranda,or even Johnson I'd change my opinion. Hatton I will not comment on. Haye was surely the man at cruiserweight. I should've been more clear and fair to him. In fact, I'll go as far as to admit I was wrong about Haye because he is a hell of cruiserweight. Trust me my friend, I'm far from biased!
