I voted for Calvin Brock, because he has a cool name. He's also blind.

Really, everyone on that list blows. So does the heavyweight division. Holyfield vs. Tyson I is the sorriest excuse for a FOTY that I have ever seen.

Only on one eye. But Klitschko did ruin him ... Just like he and Sergei Liakhovich ruined Lamon Brewster. I would rather list a 50% blind semi-retired Calvin Brock than I'd list Tye Fields.

what???? i know i read that right, but what???

you dont get to see heavyweight fights at that sustained action anymore. plus it was a huge upset.

but again none of those fighters are mayweather, or forrest to you (no sarcasm intended)

Bowe vs. Holyfield I is really the only heavyweight fight I have seen that can get me excited (I haven't seen the great fights of the 70s, I am trying to catch up on things since 1990 first).

Holyfield vs. Tyson I was Evander Holyfield picking apart a lethargic Tyson who refused to throw more than one shot at a time. It was one-sided, not particularly competitive, and it really wasn't a war, nor a great show of skill by either side that would make it a great FOTY.

Really... if you had to pick between watch any FOTY of the 1990-1999 range vs. Holyfield vs. Tyson I, would you EVER pick Holyfield vs. Tyson I?

          Chavez vs. Taylor I
          Quiroga vs. Afinowashe
          Bowe vs. Holyfield I
          Carbajal vs. Gonzalez I
          Castro vs. Jackson I
          Sorjaturong vs. Gonzalez
          Gatti vs. Ruelas
          Robinson vs. Gatti I
          Ayala vs. Tapia I

Seriously? Every single fight on that list is better than Holyfield vs. Tyson I, easily.

the world spins in a circle thats 360 degrees which is called a cipher! so here's the science youngin...the HW division aint **** because the tiltles belong to a host of unfamiliar characters with long names! because the world ciphers around the sun, that means history always repeats itself!! in the near future there will be a regime change in the HW division. same thing that makes you laugh can make you cry!

Now i know you're a true boxing fan, That fight was one of the amazing fight i have ever seen in my life..Sadly both fighters would never be the same again, They both left too much in the ring on fight night and they're both dead.

I'm probably going to get ridiculed for this... but maybe I wasn't in a good mood when I watched that one, because that isn't one of my favorite FOTYs either... I still love it (and it stomps Holyfield vs. Tyson I), but compared to Chavez vs. Taylor, Castro vs. Jackson or Robinson vs. Gatti, it just didn't compare to me.

bowe holyfiled 1 was better than the first tyson fight. but again i think the upset was a factor in it becoming a fight of the year. it was buster douglas all over again. personally i liked watching it, i wouldnt call it THE best fight ever, but i thought it was an okay pick for 1996. the other fights that you put on the list are all solid. i could name a couple of other fights that would rank much higher than the ones you posted, even other fights in 1996 alone that would be better

but that was the heavyweight championship super fight, between 2 names that were suppoused to have gotten into the ring with each other 6 years back. and i thought it lived up to the hype, mike was looking for one punch but i thought it was a good pace for heavyweights

but then again, i love the heavyweight division more than any other division. NOT RIGHT NOW, but overall i rank that division the highest. watching big guys in action is something.

I personally have a hard time feeling good or even enjoying a fight in which I know a boxer's career was ruined in terms of their health. I've watched Chavez Taylor fully once, maybe twice tops. Same w/ Benn-McClellan, Quiroga-Afinowashe, and others of the like.
