Another scenario could be that if Cotto/Margarito puts up good ppv numbers, it will draw even more fan outcry for a Cotto/Floyd bout, instead of a Floyd/Oscar bout, which in return, could possibly hurt ppv #'s for the Floyd/Oscar rematch.

Yes, it's a big conspiracy and has nothing to do with the fact that two unknowns are fighting.

I dont know whats up with the person who makes the decisions at HBO. First they approve Gomez as an opponent for Cotto, and now they are not willing to do a countdown for a PPV event that would benefit them if the numbers are good.

WTF? that's some bull****, maybe not a 24/7 (even though I would watch it) but no Countdown?? this is by far one of the best if not the best fight of the year, how could they not want to do a Countdown for it? if it's the language, then it's some serious BS, Vazquez and Marquez had a countdown on Showtime and it was 90% in spanish, just with subtitles, why can't they do the same for Margarito-Cotto? I'm pissed.

Maybe it's because both fighters don't speak good English? Cotto has gotten better but....

you know these things are based on marketability and demographics right? Most likely they don't think that that show would appear to HBO's typical fight audience because it would be mostly subtitled. That's got to be part of it.

I'm not debating if that's right or wrong. And yes I know there have been countdowns for previous non-English speaking fighters all the time. But you have to factor in that this could be a huge part of HBO executives thought process.

I have no idea how or why they wouldnt try to push this fight to the public, not that it will have trouble selling, **** Mayweather fans from this forum are buying tickets to this fight.
HBO should and probably would end up doing one by the time it gets closer perhaps they just are not doing a four week 24/7 series
