He couldn't say Cotto. Because he purposely kept Cotto away from Floyd when he had them both.
You also never heard Margarito/Mayweather talk until FMJ left TR.

It's just hard (translation : impossible) to believe anything Bob says.

they talked about that possibility way before floyd bought his way out of the contract, just use the search on the forums and you'll see that.

That being said Arum is full of **** most of the times and talks in hyperbole to get across whatever point he wants to make.

This could very well be a Hagler/Hearns. We hear that crap all the time but the mix of factors could actually give us a scenario like that. As I've said a few times recently Cotto's answer for getting hit and pressured these days is to start flailing punches. Margarito will do his thing of course.

But honestly, I think Cotto will end up running so we won't get a literal redux of that classic war. There is no way in hell Cotto will survive this fight trying to trade. None. He does that and it's gonna be over.

This fight is ******. It makes no sense.

yea but margo was and still is an "all risk, no reward" fight for a big name fighter. that's why pbf didn't fight him. at the same time cotto should be given props for taking this fight. but if you think about it, besides a pbf fight, no other fight in the ww division makes sense for cotto right now. clean out margo, and no floyd fight, then who's next???

the name of the game is to hit and not get hit back. not that i agree with you, b/c i think cotto CAN trade with margo, but if you have superior boxing skills, and your opponent is a glorified brawler, why fight his fight if you dont have to? to please the fans? **** i'd rather win ugly than lose pretty any day.

and idk if you noticed, but the way to maintain any kind of longevity in this sport is to get hit as little as possible. the guys involved in all the "wars" are usually done by their early to mid thirties.

I know what he represented for Floyd, but I'm just correcting what he said. I agree with your assesment but at the same time all the Floyd talk at the time is what made him look bad. He changed his tune from if it makes money it makes sense, to talking about what has Margarito done to earn it.

Since I agree with you on how risky the fight was, I'm not one of those who thinks Margarito would be easy work for Floyd would be the favorite but he would have a very long night of moving and boxing in which he would have to be totally focused, so I don't buy it when people try to paint Margarito as a Carlos Baldomir, because he's not.

And about Cotto, he's taking the toughest, most profitable, and most fan friendly fight available. I have nothing but respect for him. I think Cotto poses a greater danger to Margarito than Mayweather in the sense that I can see Floyd beating him but not hurting him (I can also see Margarito winning, though not as likey) , but with Cotto he needs to be careful because Cotto can punish him too if he comes in too open or gets caught. The risk involved in the Cotto Margarito fight is tremendous and the style matchup is awesome. I can't wait.

                    yes sir!

any of these two would be a tough match-up for floyd, i think cotto would be a better fight b/c of his boxing ability. margo wouldn't be easy, but he can't beat floyd. he's no baldomir, b/c he has a better punch, he's more acurate, determined, and he's just BETTER. BUT, like baldomir, he's a straight-up-and-down fighter, and i dont care how tough you are, being that type of fighter, you're going to have a tough time beating mayweather. to beat him, you gotta be just as slick and savvy as he is, you're not going to win by "bullying" him around. it's been tried.

I totally agree. Cotto needs to avoid the exchanges. Definately.
