Judges only award ***** shots if there are no other shots to be seen. Hopkins would be throwing the visibly harder more accurate shots, even in their primes, and the judges would favor them greatly even if Calzaghe was throwing more.
Points taken re Bernard's skills and no arguing, but the Joe with undamaged hands didn't land ***** shots, and I stand by my belief in Joe's chin, he may have been over but he's never been stunned.

IMO - a much better fight than the one that happened, we can both agree on that even if we fall on different sides of the prediction!!

Toney an excellent defensive fighter with good power, but was badly in the habit of taking two thirds of a round off. Had tons of close shaves throughout his career and if he couldn't knock Joe out then would be very likely to be get outpointed.

Hopkins is a harder one to call. When was his prime, how would he have fought? The more aggressive Hopkins of earlier in his career would have been much easier for Joe to handle than the later ultra defensive fighter, and the later B-Hop didn't beat Joe, he got outworked. Back in the day Calzaghe would have won on points in an open fight and later on points in a scrappy one.

You may not agree with these opinions, but they are not delusional so don't say they are.

Jones JR there is no one is the sport of Boxing in the last 15 years that hits as hard and devestating with such speed & power accuracy as a prime Roy Jones nobody also Roys back hardly hit the ropes in his prime except when he chose too like against Glen Kelly ,and the only other times he spent time on the ropes was in the latter part of his career when he was to old to sustain his movement ,so that clears up his defensive flaws cause prior to that no one could could get through his defence cause they were to scared to let their hands go [Reggie Johnson ]cause of the speed of his counters ,Calzaghe woud never have Koed Roy in his prime he would be lucky if he managed to close the range let alone hit Jones ,to beat Jones u need to be a very good cagey fighter Calzaghe is to aggressive he does'nt have the subtleties to get to Jones ,u think he would walk Jones down well let me tell u something Calzaghe aint never been stopped but niether had Sugar Boy Malinga untill he fought Jones and he had been in the ring with Benn & Eubank

Toney only had some dodgy decisions because he used to fight anybody & everybody he was to active ,Toney did'nt win his fights on workrate he won them on ring generalship & counter punching & that is why he would beat Calzaghe IMO ,i think its safe to say Toney had a better workrate than a 43 year old Hopkins & we all have our opinions on who won that fight ,the difference is a prime Toney was as quick as Calzaghe hit as hard and was defensively better than Hopkins ,Calzaghe falls in with his punches IMO and that is not the way to beat Toney he would get the **** countered out of him against Toney ,Hopkins made him look garbage Toney would make him look awfull

i dont need to make a case for Hopkins he proved to me he could handle Calzaghe in his prime

          Joe has a great chin.

He's been down 3 times but it's mostly due to being off balance because of the unorthodox way he uses his southpaw stance.

He likes to square up instead of using his southpaw jab most of the time.

Did yall mofos see the gif natas posted. Calzaghe tries to force a flurry missing everything and akwardly lunges himself in front of Hopkins amidst getting decked for his efforts. That was the fight in a nutshell, this was like what
I saw on fight night. He barely got passed a man who did everything he could to conserve energy in the bout, including trying to milk excessive recovery time for 2 feigned low blows. The fact that Hopkins looked an ancient 43 when it was all said and done and Joe got what many consider to be a questionable win is a testament to Bernard's greatness.

You guys thinking Joe beats Nard in his prime are nuts, when the version that fought Wright would've ran away with the victory. **** even Wright put up a better showing against Bernard than Joe and Wink was gassed after 10.
            good post..

Well, thats all fine, its perfectly cogently argued, but the fact remains that for all Jones power and speed, it didn't make him immune from being KO'd, and for all that Toney was active in terms of number of fights, he consistently did have a low workrate that would make him vulnerable to points decisions against someone like Calzaghe. I don't agree that Hopkins proved he could handle Joe in his prime, as that was hardly a prime Calzaghe we saw either.

I don't say what you say is wrong, it isn't, but just as the fighters have the positive attributes you mention, they also have the negative ones that I do, and all have lost fights because of them.
