He was definitely weight-drained, I don't care if he's been that weight for 6 weeks. That just means he's been wrecking his body for that much longer. He should retire while he still has his health.

Tracey promises he won't fight again
In a scary moment, an unconscious former heavyweight champion Chris Byrd was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital Friday night shortly after his shocking KO loss to Shaun George. Byrd reportedly became unresponsive when a combination of valium and morphine were administered in his dressing room to relieve pain from a dislocated shoulder. Happily he was later revived and released. It appears, however, that the loss to George may have been the 37-year-old Byrd's last fight. "I'm not letting him fight anymore," Byrd's wife Tracey told fight scribe Tim Smith. And should Byrd have any notion of fighting again, Tracey warned, "He would have to try to do it without my support, and I don't think he wants to do that!"

Byrd was weight drained as well...i knew he was...
George is not a big puncher...and he knocked byrd down 3 times...
its sad that (what appears to be the end of his career) his career ends like this. he's a real good guy and deserved to go out with at least a win.
I felt bad for him last night when he was getting beaten because i knew he's clearly better than george...but 40lbs was too much too fast...
im sure he'll be okay though.Comment

I hope Chirs Byrd can pull through and be alright. I am glad his wife says he will not continue he just needs to focus on his family and maybe become a trainer or stay in the sport in some other way.Comment
