Juan Diaz Won't Underestimate Joel Casamayor

I think definitely Casamayor has seen better days, remember how good he looked against Corrales in the first fight? That was one of his best performances, razor-sharp, punching hard, moving well, elusive. We only see flashes of it now. He still moves well but his reflexes aren't as good, he's not as quick with his hands and he gets caught more. But he's still an exceptional fighter of course. He looked very good early versus Michael, but like what I was talkin bout his reflexes and declining elusiveness he started to slow and get tagged and had to come through some heat before landing the bomb.
Diaz is already a great in-ring fighter, I just see Casa outthinking him. He's not done yet, but I agree his days are numbered. The way he moves and counters, I think Diaz is gonna waste a number of punches and get countered muchos for 12 rounds. I'd rather see the big rematch, Campbell pushed him close first timeComment

Yeah, but I really don't see a problem with Diaz fightin Casa. I mean if I was a Campbell fan, then I'd be pissed lol.
Nah but I'm sure this will be a great fight. And hopefully Juan will take a Nate rematch. I have a feelin it will be different if that happens, but thats a little premature, it all depends on how Juan looks against Casa.Comment

I want to see how Juan Diaz reacts to having a southpaw mover in front of him. These last two fights for Diaz represent huge steps up in class, and he's already ran into a speed bump in his last fight. For Golden Boy to put Diaz immediately back into the fire is some tough matchmaking.Yeah, but I really don't see a problem with Diaz fightin Casa. You'd think that Diaz would matter more to Golden Boy financially since he seems to have the greater upside looking forward, but we'll see. Either way you slice it, these are two very tough fights back to back for Diaz.Comment

Golden Boy is known for its rediculous matchmaking, and if they aren't known for that, they should be. I mean Ouma vs Taylor? That was disgusting. Plus lettin Bojado go out all chubby was shocking to see. You'd think they'd be keepin a close eye on a fighter like that.I want to see how Juan Diaz reacts to having a southpaw mover in front of him. Diaz has slipped up, he's been gettin hit more in all of his last 3 fights. He's either gotten lazier or his body is startin to fail him, thats the big question. Is his body failing hima and that's causing him to move and dip less? Or has he just been gettin lazy in the ring. If it's just him gettin lazy, then thats ok, but if he can't move like he normally does than thats a problem.
Regaurdless though I see a rematch with Campbell lookin completely different. I really doubt Diaz will just stand there and eat shots behind his guard, he's never just stood there and absorbed shots like that in any fight prior to that.Comment

my understanding is that casamayor-diaz is a more attractive fight for HBO and will sell out in Houston where it will be. Also Casamayor will probably make more money this fight than against Campbell unless Don King puts up a huge amount. Casamayor-Campbell for the belts imo would be given to showtime or ppv co main event like on the possible Mayorga-Mosley co main event. Calzaghe-Hopkins 2 40 year holds household names bombed on free tv. I think if they invest a lot of money on that fight it will do just as bad or even worse. Diaz-Casamayor can be on BAD for less money along with Katsidis in co main event. this is just all my opinion. The guys who should fight are sometimes seperated by business decisions. Here's my thought process. Casamayor won the fight with Katsidis and has the "Ring belt". Why would he further damage the image of this already compromised belt by fighting a guy coming off of a loss?
Don't get me wrong, Juan Diaz could win this fight. I'm not leaning towards him in this fight, but this is far from conclusive right now. Casamayor has lost a lot of favor with me since his post-fight interview where he called out guys like Morales and Barrera. He's shown that he's interested in the easier paydays.
This is an easier payday than fighting Campbell.Comment

I personally dont think hes a hof yet. If he beat Juan Diaz i think hes in, and if he went on to beat Campbell id put him down as a lock. But as of today imo his three best wins, Corrales twice and Katsidis are not better than losing to Jose Luis Castillo and Acelino Freitas.Comment

I'm looking at his entire body of accomplishment. He was the man at 130 and 135. He won 2 Gold medals, which I know it doesn't count in the pros, it still is pretty impressive. He fought everyone and was rarely beaten decisively. I thought he beat Freitas and was pretty close with Castillo. He's accomplished a lot in his career, more than enough to sway the BWAA, the writers who vote these guys in.I personally dont think hes a hof yet.
