A prime Hatton KOS Paulie, even though Cotto couldn't. As for what happens when/ if they fight now, I want to see what Hatton looks like against Lazcano. For a fighter who has prided himself on chin and stamina throughout his career, Hatton has looked both hurt and gassed in his recentish fights, and I'm pretty sure that his lifestyle caught up with him quite a while back. Add to that a fairly nasty KO and I don't think we really know what Hatton has left until we see him fight again.

I think he's going to come back weaker.

      From the London Times report:

When Hatton vowed to move down to light-welterweight after his boxing lesson at the hands of Mayweather in December, many expected him to demonstrate some overdue self-control as he set out on the serious business of reviving his career. Instead he went to the Canary Islands and, according to reports, downed 57 pints, 17 vodka Red Bulls, 3 whisky chasers and a bottle of champagne. That these figures are unconfirmed is irrelevant - he is already beginning to look pitifully out of shape less than one month after his recent bout......“It couldn’t be more horrific what he eats,” he said. “Anything that’s bad, greasy, take-away or pies, he washes down with 12 to 15 pints of Guinness and Baileys chasers. He couldn’t do it any worse. ... His mum and dad can’t talk him out of it and his girlfriend Jennifer can’t...

        Josh,

Objectivity is not a bad thing. Give it a try. I promise that it doesn't hurt.

I can't say that I know which guy will win this fight. But look what happened to hatton when he fought a speedy, fast handed opponent with some skill - KO. Paulie doesn't have as much power as Mayweather (which means none at all) but if he employs the same techniques used when Hatton got dominated then he could presumably pull it out. He is fast enough and has good hands - to dance around and frustrate Hatton, while Hatton tries to smother and bear hug him. Malignaggi acts like a **** most of the time, but he is a good fighter. His only loss is to Cotto and he was too early in his career to step in with him. He got his faced bashed in for the first three rounds and ended up coming back in that fight and giving Cotto some of the tougher rounds he has seen in his career - only lost by 3 points on a judges scorecard.

Unfortunatley I agree with you I just hope we're both wrong and he comes back as a beast.

I don't think your criticism is fair.

Actually, Malignaggi gutted it out in his toughest fight. He went the distance despite a broken face. Literally.

Hatton's corner threw in the towel in his toughest fight.

I haven't seen that. Most people gave Mayweather FAR more credit for his other wins than for knocking out Hatton. After all, he was the top-rated guy in the sport BEFORE he fought Ricky.

If Floyd gets credit, it is for HOW he beat RH. Not THAT he beat RH.
