Yeah, well, the Internet was invented by an American anyway. And what would you be doing without the internet? The only thing you would be surfing is your.....wait
    Tim Berners-Lee is English.

No point deductions - showing yourself up for having a total lack of class is punishment enough.

I though Al Gore invented the internet.

          Hence the indecisive.....wait

But anyway, I thought the Mayweather family invented the internet. It would explain the obscene amount of mayweather nughuggers about.

As English, we are used to trading chants over the terraces, but the US anthem is generally held with more affection by its people than God Save the Queen is by the Brits, especially the celts, who have their own (much better imo) anthems; we should respect that.

So my plan...If you are the away fighter and your anthem gets booed, not just an odd cat call, but properly booed, the referee should be given the discretion to deduct a point.

Yes I know there are flaws in this, like what level of booing is needed, but maybe just the threat of sanctions may be enough??

u obviously didnt think of the repercussion of this thought.

I agree, I could do with out the anthems. These fighters spend 45 minutes breaking a sweat to get warmed up backstage. Then they each take fifteen minutes to get to the to the cold ring and listen to all the announcements and the two horribly long national anthems (how bad was tom jones? look like he was already dead and embalmed). By the 30 - 45 minute circus it is all said and done their sweat is gone and they are cold and stiff. Makes no sense to me.

Its just interesting to get everyone's thoughts, I know there would be no practical way of enforcing it, however some common-sense publicity by the promoter of a travelling fighter should control it - the Calzaghe Hopkins crowd behaviour vs Mayweather Hatton shows this; someone came up with the theory that Cortez was so pissed with the Hatton fans that he didn't let Ricky fight - This may or may not be true, other threads have done that theory to death, BUT it is clear that the travelling fans believed it as they were as quiet as mice during the SSB. If you are Welsh, you could put this down to Celtic British fans generally being better behaved than their Anglo Saxon counterparts, but I still think whoever came up with the alleged link of Cortez and the crowd did Joe C a favour...

Have any Americans raised this subject due to the Witter fight?

Im just wondering why its been brought up if no one really gives a ****.

Booing is just ****** pantomime and isnt considered a serious insult. Jeering or shouting insults at another nations national anthem would be far worse. Its just a bunch of drunken fans pissing about.
It shouldnt be taken so seriously IMO.

If points were deducted for booing national anthems, in Vegas people would be booing their own anthem every fight.
