he reached with it constantly, in todays climate he would have been hamered over the top with right hand counters
he had a generous reach but his jab was not quick and he did'nt have good timing with it IMO ,on top of that his footwork was poor he was not good at shuffling foward behind the jab to close the range he would tend to reach with it instead
hell than man pulled his shoulder out trying to hit Ali with, i dont care how old he was his technique would 'nt have been effected by his age IMO
powerfull jab ,generous reach but far from great IMO
I'd have to agree with this, Wright has a nasty jab!

Oscar De La Hoya has a good jab but IMO the best in many a year was Ronald 'Winky' Wright. He could control fights and shut down good fighters with that one punch!

That's really like judging Holmes based on his fights with Michael Spinks and Ali based on his fights with Norton and Jimmy Young...
Larry Holmes had the best jab. It was faster than Liston's, landed more than Listons and had more effct. The only thing that impressed me about Liston's jab was the length of it and how far he could stick it out there.
Liston had a great jab when u stood infront of him but what makes his jab less than great IMO is the fact his footwork so poor that he was'nt as a effective against a moving target u can see in that 1st clip how he follows his oponent around the ring stead of cutting it down

I got some real rear footage of liston in the ams and a large amount of his fights this guy had an amazing jab ok it wasn’t the quickest so someone with great head movement might be able to avoid it but his reach was freak like for his height and imo is the most powerful jab i have seen, In the ams he was knocking guys clean out with it. Liston had fairly good footwork in any case when you see him early in his career you can see he was in so much better shape than he was against Ali.
