Is this the "prime" Calzaghe that people talk about as if he was a combination of Sugar Ray Robinson and Mike Tyson? He knocked out bums early in his career, big deal. Every elite fighter does that.
Some people are upset that Joe is/was so much better than Hopkins and the other middleweights of his generation. It ruins their little stereotypes.
Explain your "stereotype" comment. That should be interesting.

JC still has that power he justs has to sit on his punches much less, especially early to prevent himself from breaking his hand's or injuring his wrists early in a fight when he's fighting guys that will be able to take advantage of that. Trying to beat Kessler or Hopkins with a injured hand in the early rounds would've been tough.

"So much" better? Are you f'n kidding me? Did you not see Hopkins school him at age 43? Calzaghe won based on a workrate, a product of age. If you actually analyze the action and defense Hopkins provided he gave him a boxing lesson and made Calzaghe look like an amateur.

Calzaghe made Hopkins look like John Ruiz or an MMA fighter. Calzaghe not only threw twice as many punches, he also LANDED twice as many punches and if the fight had competent referees Joe would've won a UD by winning 8 or 9 rounds on every card, which he clearly did.

This is just one example and the same can be said in other rounds as well. Usually when I challenge someone to do this they respond with something like "I have a life" or "get over it" yet they can't take less then 10 minutes to do this but can spend all day discussing positives of Joe Calzaghe's performance.

Compubox has Calazaghe landing somewhere around 15-18 punches when in reality you could count them with one hand and part of that is taps to the side and body during clenches that Compubox counts as "power punches". There was only a few clean, effective punches landed that round and they all belonged to Hopkins.

No doubt, Joe's punches did appear ineffective, mostly, but he DID land with some, more in fact, than Hopkins did. I totally understand the Hopkins won argument, it was a close fight, but really Joe won and deservedly so. I don't care abour compubox.
