Three things for sure about this fight:
1. Mayweather had a very bad performance, but not the worst performance of the night.
2. The worst performance of the night goes to VIC DRAKULICH! He took unnecessary points, didn't take points for other things... he just looked overwhelmed.
3. This was Mayweather's most exciting fight IMO (if you add in the competitiveness level to the equation... obviously he beat Gatti and N'dou up pretty excitingly, but it wasn't a competitive fight in either case).Comment

there are robberys all the time in boxing, the point is he came back and won the rematch... .. . so get over stop being bitches, if Floyd gets robbed in a fight u guys will be the happiest ever.Comment

So is hitting after the break.
Neither was so severe that a point should have been taken away.
If Castillo got penalized for hitting after the break, Floyd should have been for hitting after the bell.
Also, Castillo unloading on Floyd's back was pretty bad.
I'll say it again, Drakulich looked overwhelmed to be in there.Comment

i dont see how could you score any of the first four to five rounds for
castillo
and if you were to tell me that mayweather didnt win the two rounds
after that you're delusional.
Next time you watch a fight turn the volume off because there is a thing
called "the mexican effect" where a mexican fighter throws a punch that
hits nothing or grazes a shoulder or something and the crowd(mostly
mexican) goes wild. this fools you into thinking that the fighter did
something when in reality he did nothing.Comment

thats not the POINT.. he still lost the first fight, Castillo was ROBBED. Judges having you lose a fight (you WOn) by four points, is a robbery NOT A CLOSE DECISION in a close fight. theu clearly robbed him. Yeah Floyd won the second, well that makes them 1 and 1. Shoudlve been a third...Last edited by C'MONMANG'; 05-11-2008, 06:12 PM.Comment

I thought the point deduction wasn't necessary.
I also didn't think the shot after the break from Castillo was so dramatic that it warranted taking a point.
Like I said though, if Castillo got a point for hitting on the break, the time when Floyd hit after the bell should have been penalized for the sake of equality.
Finally, the hitting on the back by Castillo (the time when he got behind Floyd and unloaded four or five shots to the kidney) was terrible, and he didn't get so much as a warning.Comment

also another thing with the "mexican effect" is when a fighter does do some
thing good the crowd exaggerates.
examples of this can be seen in pbf-dlh where de la hoya is throwing
combos but floyd is rolling them and moving his head ocassionally a shot
lands; The pro de la hoya crowd goes crazy as if he knocks floyd out
this also happens during castillo-mayweather I.
Its like somebody laughing hard at a joke thats funny but not that funny
but still laughs hard anyway.Comment
