For a guy who wasn't a one punch knockout artist, he was able to beat Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Henry Cooper, Earnie Shavers and Joe Frazier. All of those guys are among the 100 hardest punching heavyweights of all-time. Thats not counting the guys like Ron Lyle who could make that list as well.
Was Muhammad Ali a bum?

He was one of the posters who dogged me incessantly for implying that Wladimir Klitschko had the potential to do more against Ibragimov. In a way, he was insulting Wladimir by saying that Klitschko was incapable of performing better.Comment

I have no problem with anyone, I just recognize that there are some posters who believe that their favorite fighters are superior human beings to the rest of civilization.
You don't hear me on here talking about how Rodel Mayol and AJ Banal are part of some master race.Comment

I agree, I feel he is the best heavyweight, although I sometimes think Louis was. There are some that overrate him, but even when you put him in his most humblest context, Ali is still far from a bum. He still is among the best fighters the heavyweight division has ever seen.
Contrary to what some may believe, he accomplished more than either Klitschko brother.Comment

yep, dont forger Cleveland Williams, and Jerry Quarry who had one hell of a left hook. and i do agree, for a guy who wasnt much of a puncher, in the division where you render your reputation for power, he won on his skill, heart, and instincts when he had to. Had one of the best chins, and never ducked anyone in the division, another distinction that most other champions lack. Ali had no excuses. For a guy who wasn't a one punch knockout artist, he was able to beat Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Henry Cooper, Earnie Shavers and Joe Frazier.
