    I hope as well...

Vitali should have retired. How can you run for a demanding public office job and at the same time prepare for a demanding HW championship fight? I hope he becomes mayor and find the job so hard that he drops his emeritus-title thereby letting the full-time fighters fight.

Anyway; it looks like a unified champion is years away now.

as for people who say.. "There goes unification" Do you think Don King is Going to let Sam Peter ANYWHERE near Wlad as long as he has THAT belt???
LOL.. But I think this is a 1 time thing.. I am sure Vitali will retire as long as the Klitschkos fulfill their dream of being Champs at the same time..

The odds of someone having all 4 belts are next to impossible anyways.. and if you get at least 3 of them.. I'd say that Makes you the man.. especially if you already have a win against the guy with the 4th belt..
Good point. And I agree that if Vitali makes it to the fight, he will be too much for Sam.

Providing Vitali comes in, in decent shape then I think he'll dispose of Peter in 10 rounds.

It will never happen but I'd love to see the Klitchkos fight each other.

Vitali might not be as technically gifted, or as fast as the younger Wlad, but I think he is the better of the two because of his granite chin and more powerful punches, and should have become Undisputed Champion after Lennox Lewis retired.

Well, I for one hopes this fight comes off and we get a good show. I know Vitali will win if he fights like he did in the Williams or Sanders fights. I'm not sure if he will make it to fight night, and I'm not sure if he will retire after getting the title. I am sure that he always makes for an exciting fight and I love to watch him. In my opinion, he has never really lost and we know for a fact that he has never been legitimately knocked down. There is intrigue about him because we dont really know if he will be the animal that wore out Lennox Lewis or a washed up rusty politician. Vitali always looks in shape and I believe that if Jameel McCline can almost KO Sam Peter, Vitali will destroy him.

Wlad is actually the heavier puncher. His right hand is like a freight train, and is quite comparable to a right hand from George Foreman or Earnie Shavers. Also, pay no attention to Ring Magazine's "Heaviest Punchers" list. Joe Louis, while a great puncher, with beautiful handspeed and superb instincts, just didn't compare with Foreman, Shavers or Wlad Klitchko. Those three (in that order, in my opinion) are probably the heaviest punchers of all time.

Vitali's keys to success are, as you stated, his granite chin, but the biggest reason he's so tough is simply his iron will. Those, coupled with his predatory instincts makes him scary as hell inside the ring. I can't remember another heavyweight as aggressives as Vitali. Even Tyson, who was great at getting inside and unloading combinations lightning quick, didn't continually stalk his prey around the ring like Vitali Klitchko. His quick disassembly of Kirk Johnson was a great example of this. His predatory nature is extremely evident when you watch him looking for a hole to counter every time his opponent (more accurately, "prey") throws a punch.

You're also right about his "talent". He appears clumsy and, as some have said, robotic. His brother is, by FAR, the better "boxer", he's just not as aggressive, and doesn't have the heart and willpower his brother does. If he did, he could've most likely gone down in history as one of the top 5 greatest heavyweights of all time. He has the size, power, ability, speed and skill. He's just lacking the iron will of those past champions which, in my opinion, is about 75% of the game.

if vitali makes it through camp hes going to win, Peter has improved but Vitali has the experience even if hes been out for for awhile, Vitali by 8-9 rd stoppage Corrie Sanders style. It will be a competitive fight with Peter possibly landing some powerfull shots but Vitali will take them and wear Peter down and do what Wlad couldnt. Vitali will be looking for Peter to off balances when he misses with those looping punches and will try to take advange of that

                  When is the Kiev election?

It has to be no later than July, otherwise this fight is sure to be postponed.

I was hoping they would agree on a November or December date, leaving Peter free to make a voluntary defense by July. That would be a much better deal for the fans.

I really like Vitali as a fighter, he produces dominant performances in the ring, but his constant injuried situation is one I wouldn't like to see at the WBC belt anymore. Nevertheless, if he comes back in good shape (80%-90% of what he was) he is sure to defeat Peter.

And there is the unification hope, which the fans arduouslly seek and will not happen while Vitali is around. Truth is, like mentioned before, there is a tiny chance that Wlad will be able to unify all the belts, the only way Chagaev and Peter will fight Wlad is if they are set to face a mandatory who is as much a threath to them as Wlad is, but a much smaller financial atraction. In that case they would rather risk losing their belt to Wlad making a lot more money instead.

Another way possible would be for Wlad to vacate his belts and ask for the WBA to appoint him the mandatory for the title or the #1 ranked, so he can beat Chagaev and get that belt, then do the same with the WBC. He wouldn't have all the belts at the same time but he would get all of them and defeat all the top HWs around, making him the consensuous #1 HW.

So does this news mean that Peter will wait for Vitali in October or will he still fight an optional defense?...
