You can point to power and say that Diaconu has that advantage over Glen Johnson, but there are few others really. Diaconu's jab is a pushing jab, more of a range-finder that would invite counters from a skilled counter puncher like Dawson.
The reason Dawson ate so many punches fro Johnson is because of the pressure that Johnson put on him. Johnson walked in behind an excellent defense and was able to make Dawson work for 3 minutes of every round.
Diaconu's defense is not nearly as good as is Johnson's. Diaconu is also a bleeder. I don't read too much into Diaconu's KO of Rico Hoye as a measuring stick for his power really. Hoye is notorious for being chinny and I don't recognize any of the names of guys Diaconu has knocked out.
I'd say Dawson all day.
