I think if it were for a belt, and oscar beat floyd...

Would they be concentrated on wow Oscar is a champion again...

or wow, Oscar JUST BEAT FLOYD MAYWEATHER...

I think with this particular fight... a title belt is just icing on the cake. It would be completely overlooked by the fact that "who cares about the belt, Oscar just BEAT FLOYD.

The only problem I have with the belt... as ive said before, just to clear it up for the forgetters is... Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito deserve their shot BEFORE Oscar does....

But I think, active hall of fame fighters, true veteran champions of the sport, get deserved special treatment... its almost something you get at the end of yuor career for doing so much throughout it...

This is why Roy gets a shot at Joe before the other guys, Why Holyfield got a shot before the other guys, Why other Vet Former champs get a shot before the other guys... they've earned it through their career...

      I think that's fair.

But, I also think that if you want to have an active pound for pound list... its based on the best fighters in the world fighting the other best fighters... Floyd did just fight ricky hatton in december, and the weight excuse is ****.... Joe just moved up 7 pounds to fight Bernard? And he won!

Ricky was a top 10 guy... so floyds staus stays again for another year... I think if he doesnt fight a top10 p4p guy OR a top 10 welter by jan 09' its time to move down in the list....

I just feel that a better scenario would be for Floyd to put his belt on the line, and "IF" Oscar were to win and fight Cotto in December, it would make a match between Floyd and Cotto even bigger if Cotto were to beat Oscar and be the Linear WW champ (given Cotto gets past Margarito)

True, but I think if Oscar fights Cotto, it wont matter about the belt... Itll do a few things for Cotto

--First of all, RAISE his popularity, and give him more status, just as Floyd wants

--And also, give Cotto the "oh yeah, I beat him too" under his belt

I think Oscar is in essence passing the torch to Cotto as the next PR fighter...

Millie didnt want Oscar to beat on another PR... but I think the way he looks at it is... hey, im not trying to damage him... Im trying to help elevate a fellow PR fighter... as one leaves, one must enter.

            EDIT: Oscar isnt PR lol

I really dont see and understand the point of these thread, Yes he needs to fight Cotto but Anybody with an ounce of Brain knows this is a bogus fight which Both fighter were just using to make more money. So why is it relevant for them to fight for PBF's title when the number one guy(Berto) on the WBC isnt really ready to fight or step up?

If they put The title on the line we all know oscar isnt the mandatory so that would make it even more bogus..SO whats the point of them fighting for the title?

So basically what you're saying is, Floyd could lose to Oscar, and still keep his WW title and pfp#1 spot. Right?

Who cares? Floyd can use his 1 extra non WW title defense pass w/ DLH. After this he better man up.
