i think the point of the fight, as far as "whats the point" is can oscar end a career on an absolute high... what will it do for his resume, and his atg status, if he were to beat floyd... .the "what if" factor is intriguing... kinda like "what if" roy could beat joe calzaghe at this stage.. same thing there...
Although i highly favor floyd in any fight, theres simply a lot going against him in this fight....
-Floyd will be inactive for 10 1/2 months
-Oscar will be active within 4 months (unlike last times 1 year layoff)
-Floyd Sr. breaking down Floyd Jr.'s Technique's for Oscar
-Floyd Jr. being so unbelievably focused on everything BUT Boxing...
-Oscar being 110% focused on JUST boxing this year, and Floyd especially
-Floyd looks at Oscar as a simple "gimme" or "pushover"
-The fact that although Oscar didnt fight Floyd on Saturday, I personally thought hes looked his best in years, up on his toes, didnt gas out, threw combinations, fought tall and used his jab... all PROMISING things.
I just think theres a lot of "little" agendas going against Floyd
Floyd could come in with ring rust, not be in as good as shape as normal due to time off, and overlooking Oscar... he could break his hand... Theres always possibilities..
And Ill also say that Buster Douglas and Antonio Tarver had FAR less of a chance beating their p4p enemies, than does Oscar... to me anyways...
At the end of the day, you have to favor floyd on every day of the week...But if history has shown us anything.... upsets are frequent and very capable, in this sport.Comment
