No Vitali didn't scare Lewis into retirement. He knew that his time at the top was nearing the end so he retired before he lost because of he was past his prime. He just did the smart thing.

Hell no, Lewis was undertrained and semi-retired and still managed to make him look Frankensteinian, bust him up like he committed a crime. Prime Lewis woulda wiped him out

It is usually stated that Vitali "retired" Lewis, even though he lost the fight due to the injury of his eye. If you watch the fight, you will see that Vitali landed, argueably, the hardest punches that Lewis recieved in his career. Saying he "scared" him into retirment is a bit much, however, I do think Klitschko's shots did have an impact on his decision.

It's difficult to know if Vitali's punches were the hardest Lewis faced. Let's be honest here - Lewis went in with some pretty explosive hitters thoughout his career.

If Vlad was an easier opponent, would Lewis have had 1 more fight to win all that money?

Probably, but that doesn't mean Vitali scared Lewis off. Lewis was old and out of shape and it was apparent his drive to train and prepare wasn't what is needed to be a top fighter anymore.

Vitalis face may have been hanging off, but Lewis's pants where full of piss after the fight.

Lewis had a great career and was on his way out already. He didnt have set plans as far as I know to retire, but he came in out of shape and maybe that fight was enough to tell him that his fire was gone. I dont think Lewis was afraid of anybody.
