Floyd was elbowing, holding, using his head, hitting behind the head, ducking below the waist, stepping on toes and using elbows without so much as a stern glance from Cortez.

Hatton wins a dirty fouling match if both guys are allowed to foul, which is why Floyd would be more likely to keep it at distance.
Hatton DID throw punches inside, and they were muffled or blocked by Floyd's armwork. Or shoulder/body rolling.

Mayweather is simply a better inside fighter than Hatton. And he is stronger than Hatton.

Ricky himself said :"he felt big and strong".

The fight would NOT be closer. Hatton gets stopped inside of eight. Actually, Mayweather now has Hatton's rhythmn and timing. Once he got that in the fight (round 3-ish?) he dropped his hands and started nailing Ricky with those lead rights. There's little that Hatton can do to adjust or surprise Floyd.

What physical or skill advantage does Hatton have over Mayweather? Stonger? Taller? Longer? Faster? Quicker? More accurate? Better defense? Better stamina? Smarter? Better training?

      Sorry, I don't see it.
