I think it's hilarious that people think just because they love boxing, sign on to boxing message boards every day, and watch most of the fights that they can that they have the right to call the top boxers who are nearing the end of their career and are at the peak of their marketability anything other than a "real boxer."

Trust me, if Miguel Cotto could fight once or twice a year and make as much as Floyd Mayweather he would. If Antonio Margarito could fight once every 18 months and make as much as Oscar De la Hoya he would.

Look at non-athletes. I work roughly 40 hours per week. I used to work 70 hours per week. But I got a job that pays better. So, I said to hell with working 3 or 4 jobs. If 20 or 30 years from now, I can pay bills and support my family working 15-20 hours per week I'm going to do that. There's a lady at my work who has it set up like that. I don't hate on her. I'm shooting for that myself.

It's the same with athletes. Only their career span isn't 40-50 years. It's more like 10-20 years. Floyd Mayweather has already been fighting for 12 years. Him taking it relatively easy for the last 4 or 5 years is like a non-ahtlete taking the last 15 years of his or her career easy. We'd all do it if we could. Some people would hate on us, but the more motivated would strive to get to that level because they know it's possible.
