I know its the truth, but you know...Mayweather, money, PPV buys and appearances, it all contributes to the stereotype. You guys do seem to measure things that way.

    Again, no offense intended.

Mayweather has more elite names than Calzaghe, and I'm a huge Calzaghe fan. I'm not even criticising Joe's record, which I think is good, but IMO Mayweather's is genuinely exceptional. Lots of those fighters everyone calls bums were absolutely no such thing, they were real elite champs. The problem was that when they signed to fight Mayweather, no matter how good they had been previously, it was obvious they would lose to him, because he was so far ahead, and everyone started calling them bums.

Mayweather's resume is excellent, but you can't say he's fought the EQUIVALENT of Hopkins, Toney, Jones, Tarver and Winky. And then you say Calzaghe wouldn't be ahead of Floyd if he beat the lot!

Well, you can't really compare resumes that way, there isn't really any such thing as equivalents.

I didn't say he wouldn't be, I said I wasn't sure. If Calzaghe had beaten a prime Jones, then that would be better than any win on Mayweather's resume for sure. What I really mean is that all the wins in the world wouldn't make Joe a better boxer than Floyd, but sure, if he beat that lot in their primes you could say his resume was even better.

If Joe had beaten prime Hopkins, Toney, Jones, Tarver & Winky we'd be talking about the second coming of Christ.

Mayweather is better than Calzaghe but he wont have much of a legacy if he doesn't beat Cotto.

I can't believe that someone is actually bragging about Calzaghe's resume. He has only beaten 4 top names and 2 of their were well past their prime. Thats it, Mayweather has fought the best from 126 up and has beaten pound for pound quality fighters and have looked more impressive while doing it. I am not knocking Calzaghe because he is indeed a great fighter and greatest super middleweight of all time, but he was very protected. He has only left the UK one time and Kessler even had more top 10 wins then he did.

Me more than anyone else! Like I say though, I think most people would still rate Mayweather the best on actual skill and talent.

A little while ago you were saying Calzaghe could beat a Prime Jones, what changed?

I don't have a problem with that. As far as I'm concerned they are both automatic entries into the pantheon of HOF.
