Then two years later he had an epic two rounder with Mitchell. In between times he had a war with Charles Brewer. Mitchell and Brewer will be dismissed as bums by churlish posters on this board

I liked Joe because he showed vulnerabilty even against Brewer and Mitchell with his willingness to get ****** into a brawl.

Joe is a great fighter imo but a good notch below guys like James Toney and RJJ if not a notch and a half. But I could never back those guys anyway especially prime Roy it would be like supporting Man Utd in the 90's, or Michael Schumacker in the F1 or Tiger Woods in golf.
Good post. I agree Jones would probably have beaten him in his prime, I don't think Toney would have.

The first fight I saw was Eubank and I followed him as much as I could after that. I would have really liked for him to have fought Steve Collins, who to me as a kid at the time seemed to come out of nowhere to beat the previously great Eubank.

My own personal favourite Calzaghe fight was Evans Ashira, not Joe's best performance or by any stretch even challenging opposition, but I just thought it was quite incredibly cool that he beat him literally one handed.

Come on now, i remember that post, be honest now......

Didnt you say the score should have been more like 117-111 after you watched it again

You're on thin ice sparked_85. You don't want to be on that list, trust me. The repercussions would be disastrous.

                Oh, I get it.

Supporting Calzaghe is like supporting Chelsea this season.

Misplaced arrogance, overrated, confused tactics, being exposed against high calibre opposition, somehow scraping win (s), irritating fans, building their history and legacy the easy, soulless way.

**** that. This fight wasn't even ****ing close. Never has a fight looked so different the 2nd time around.

                    Joe won that wide.

I scored it 115-113 Joe Calzaghe.....117-111 might be about right.

toney fought bums his entire career and lost everytime he stepped up to the top level.

the only impressive thing he has done is to be able to put on 100lbs without having a heart attack.

Toney dropped a decision to that well known all time great, drake thadzi.
