cool... it wasnt made to trash joe... i like joe.. just dont compare them prime for prime equally...Comment

I dont think so simply for the fact that Joe's not a very muscular guy, and even though he walks around at like 190, he maintained his dominance in one weigh class, Jones kept moving up through his career and kept getting bigger.Comment

Of course he could. Tough fight to call. Toney can certainly be outboxed. Nunn gave him trouble until he got lazy and got caught. Griffin gave him all kinds of trouble, even though some don't like those scores, they were both close, close fights. Toney is not God. Joe's relentless workrate, handspeed, chin, etc.... Toney would not like the matchup, I assure you.
This poll is of course biased by the Hopkins performance. But I can also assure you that Toney wouldn't have an easy time with Hopkins, no matter when he fought him, and wouldn't look good, even if he won. Joe is not prime, and hasn't been for awhile. The Lacy performance was the last time you'll see a prime Joe, and even in that case, he had to turn back the clock because he hadn't looked that sharp in the fights leading up to Lacy. A prime v. prime, you're talking about an amazing fight. The people saying "Oh Toney easy" just don't know boxing, or have only seen Joe's last two fights and think he's in his prime now.Comment

Excellent post, although I actually still think (hope) we will see the Joe we saw against Kessler again.

I thought that too, I started typing my answer and I thought I was in the Calzaghe v Toney thread after reading it.

Absolutely not. No possible way. Joe Calzaghe is an offensive fighter - and it would take quite a bit of elusiveness i.e. tremendous footspeed, head movement, extraordinary defense, at over 200 lbs to stay in the match. And Calzaghe is not likely to carry his best attributes - let alone the ones he doesn't even have, up in weight 30 lbs. He would get crushed like a buzzing insect if he fought in his natural mode.
He is simply not built for it.Comment

Addison, just wondering why you one-starred me, and I can't PM you. Seems kind of harsh to one star someone for having different opinions.Absolutely not. No possible way. I always thought you were a pretty good poster, even if I do often disagree.
