I first watched it when I was about 5 years old. My dad had fights on. I've been following the sport for years now.

my dad kept telling me how ali was so great and everyone in his country would listen to his fights by the radio
so i started watching boxing i usually just saw two guys hugging each other and switched channels waitin for a knockout
but the de la hoya vs mayorga fight got me hooked specially how the crowd reacted to the good guy de la hoya vs the bad guy mayorga it was like real life pro wrestling

Same here (sort of). I was raised in the US, and my father (not to my knowledge) ever watched boxing (I do remember the NBA and the Bulls dynasty). When we came here to Puerto Rico in 1997, I was 10 years old, Trinidad was HUGE...I remember being at my grandfather's house (on my mother's side), and being bored as my ENTIRE family watched the De la Hoya/Trinidad fight. Regardless of whether I watched it or not, in Puerto Rico you can't help but find out what's happening in boxing. Anyway, it wasn't until out of randomness my brother rented Fight Night Round 2, loved it, got hooked. Then, I started watching Ali documentaries and specials on ESPN...Ali was the first fighter that I started to genuinely draw me to boxing. Then, to solidify this crazy addiction I have with boxing...the first fight that I watched LIVE with genuine interest was Cotto/Quintana. I watched that fight alone in the living room, shouting alone (first "symptoms" LOL). I look back on it now and KNOW that I became a fan of boxing IN A VERY GOOD YEAR (2007).

Cotto/Judah- wow! How can you NOT become a fan of Cotto watching this fight?!

Pavlik/Taylor- that HAD to have been one of the best fights of the year.

Mayweather/De la Hoya- Watched the fight from inside my house snooping towards my neighbor's house from across the street. I could see the fight that way. Man, I was hoping DLH would win.

Cotto/Mosley- watched it with my whole family! The undercards were amazing! Two first round KOs and a very questionable decision for Casamayor along with a great main event! Wow! Just wow!

Calzaghe/Kessler- I was hoping someone would dethrone Calzaghe, but somehow he's grown on me.

Mayweather/Hatton- I anticipated this fight so badly, and found myself rooting for Mayweather this time. Watched it with my whole family as well.

A great year so far, a lot of upsets, but looks like it'll be a great year. Although, I don't see how 2007 can be topped, it was just too good.

            Tyson vs. Tubbs

The first time I ever saw another human KTFO.

Gatti vs. Guys better than he was

The first time I realized sometimes Heart and Courage could carry you to victory against skill and talent.

DeLayhoa, Toney, Whittaker, Old Ray Robinson clips, Ray Leonard, Ali..

All helped me realize that Boxing was an artform and that the Masters make look easy....what I found out for myself later on was the most difficult thing I ever tried to do.

1.One of my earliest childhood memories was my Dad and uncles getting together to watch some guys named Sugar Ray and Marvelous Marvin fight.

              2.Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! came out on Nintendo.

3.The summer of 1992. My dad broke his leg and couldn't work, so me and him followed the Olympics together on TV. They kept showing this story about this Mexican boy, like me, who was trying to win a gold medal for his mother who had passed away. At the time there wasn't a lot of Mexican-Americans on TV, so I clung to every second of his fights. My dad and I would make sure we knew what times he was fighting so we wouldn't miss. Me and my dad watched him win that gold medal together, along with many other belts. Thanks Oscar.

Watching Rocky 2 really got me into it and I wanted to know more about the sport and not just movies.

All the men in my family have been watching boxing, as an 80's baby my grandfather loved and still to this day watches it. He used to babysit me when I was small and made me watch it with him, usually the Leonard fights. My dad watched it too of course. I remember all us watching Tyson fights as a family lol. Trinidad & Roy Jones were my favs in the 90's. Now I have so many favorites. I believe the sport has evolved very well.
