How do you start having a passion for boxing?

I thought this would be a bit different and cool to read how people got their passion for the sport,

i am 24 and have been watching boxing my entire life. I would sit around with my pops and my brothers to watch the fights every week. But i never actually had a passion for it. I watched cause they watched, and i would always end up leaving to go play basketball or hockey with the other kids from my block, i liked the tyson fights, they were quick. I knew the big names and the history but i did not really care for it. It was not until i taped over my brothers Roy jones VS Vinny Pazienza fight that i started gaining the appreciation and the passion for the sport(12 years old). My bro made me search for the fight and tape it for him again. and in those days i had no idea how to work the vcr timer so i recorded the fight and watched it at the same time. Roy Jones skills were amazing. the fight had me on the edge of my seat cheering to a empty room. the speed and power of jones mesmerized me, it was great.

From then on i payed closer attention to the sport. and it is a big part of my life. my boxing collection is outrageous, i watch and get all the boxing matches i can get my hands on. i am very addicted to it and i watch at least 2 fights a day. and me and my bro get together for EVERY Big(to us) fight, which is basically every Saturday

My girlfriend at first hated the amount of boxing i watch. but i turned her and now she watches with me and is having her first fight next month.

That's how it starts man...You see 1 good fight then you start following that fighter and his next opponent and before you know it your hooked...My bro is younger than me and found Boxing to be boring in his words...He doesn't have HBO or SHOW so the only fights he get's to see is on ESPN FNF so I can't blame him for thinking Boxing is Boring...I invited him over for the JMM-Pac-Man fight and with 10 of my drunk buddies yelling and screaming he enjoyed himself and the next day told me man Boxing is intense when is the next big fight? That's why Boxing has to showcase real fights atleast on FREE HBO once in a while not B-Hop -calz which ya knew was gonna be boring..How bout Margo-Cotto on FREE HBO there would be tons of new Boxing fans born after that fight guaranteed

it started for me from my dad. he was a boxer in the navy. he taught me how to fight/box and how to be a man. i've been into boxing as a semi pro boxer and a fan. the thing that kept me in there all these years is the memories. if i watch a fight from the 80's it'll take me back to that part of my life and spark that passion higher and higher. i have my son boxing now also. writing this right now makes me wanna put my cleto's on and go 12 rounds.

love the ammount of time and pride you put on the line to be godo in this sport whicth si what i hope to ahceive one day. but what really got me in to it was wacthing tyson and the way he made it to the top and other boxers who had nothing and thorugh boxing had everything

My Grandfather showed me ALi friazer 1 when i was about 2 or 3. From there i watched old SSR and SRL. after watching SRL's fights i grew a passion for it then st****d on gloves at 13.

my dad was a golden gloves champ, and a champ in the marines as well. we used to watch , and attend a ton of fights fro the time i was like 5 years old on up!! he passed away 20 years ago, but the desire, and passion for the sport stayed with me.
