Are Floyd Fans Scared?

Did you ever read the Sugar Ray Robinson Biography????
I did and SRL never liked boxing but chose it because he needed the Paycheck. He also had to fight every other week because the money they received was not much.
He said he hated boxing. That's when the sport supposebly was at his best but the fighters didn't benefit from it as much as the greedy promoters.
Pretty incredible that he was so good at something he didn't like.
Those guys fought a ton so it had to be a ton of punches even the best fighters couldn't avoid in the course of that kind of grueling schedule.Comment

What Is Fear?
Fear is "an unpleasant and often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger."[1] Fear is completely natural and helps people to recognize and respond to dangerous situations and threats.Comment

It's not the fighters job to kiss his opponents ass to get more credit/approval from the fans. A fighter can disrespect his opponent and call him a bum if he wants to, but if we view that "bum" as a guy who is Top 10 P4P, solid skills etc, then it doesn't matter.
It's how the opponent is perceived to be that matters not what the fighter thinks of that opponent.Comment

Yeah **** all those stipulations and such. Cotto isn't big this or that who gives a ****. However, because of said reason he has to wait a bit longer. There are BIGGER (not better but bigger) fights out there that Floyd will take first. Then Cotto to end his career.Comment

So if your saying that, why are NFL teams only playing 16 weeks in a 52 week year? Or 19 games at the most. Why do NBA teams only play 4 or 5 months a year? With your logic, you are saying its a full time job to be an athlete, so go do more. No everon needs rest to come back from injuries. So dont jump on boxers for fighting 2 times a year and not jump on football or basketball.Last edited by My Name Is...; 04-27-2008, 11:30 PM.Comment

Um, just because I think Oscar beat Floyd doesnt mean I automatically think there should be a rematch. Oscar IMO got LUCKY to beat Floyd, he wont win a rematch. That, combined with a lack of popular support for the closeness of that fight and the rise of cotto, leads me to conclude that there should be no rematch. Plain and basic common sense. Chew on that for a while.Comment

Yeah they chose it, but does that mean that have to fight more than 2 times a year. No, their are no obligations in boxing. The beating they take and injuries they sustain in fights is almost as much as an 82 NBA season and a full 16 game NFL schedule.

Some guys fight once a month. Some once a year.
Some of the old school guys fought 20 times a year.
I am not asking them to do more alll the time, but I think 3 times a year minimum is reasonable.Comment
