Calzaghe is my favourite fighter around now (yea, I know Jones is still active)
But Roy Jones Jnr is my favourite fighter since Suger Ray leonard.
Noone could beat Roy Jones Jnr in his prime. FACT!Comment

I'm totally confused! Why are these pointless threads continuously being made? It is a well known FACT, that prime Roy Jones jr was UNSTOPPABLE!
lol Come on guys, wake up! You guys always come up with silly ideas when you're tired!

I can't help but notice only euros give Calzaghe a chance against a prime Roy Jones. Let's not sound foolish here, anyone with a brain and competency in boxing will tell you that a prime Roy Jones would straight up outclass and make Calzaghe look like a fool. He'd **** him up so bad (possibly by early KO) that Enzo would jump in the ring in the mid rounds to stop the fight.

Due to the overwhelming ratio of Americans on this site, this is always going to be one fight where anyone who picks Roy is right, and anyone who picks Calzaghe is biased. Fact is, only Calzaghe fans are able to answer this question truthfully, as many americans who are writing him off simply haven't seen Joe in his prime.
Here's how the fight breaks down:
Joe has astounding stamina and an iron chin. Roy has a slightly suspect chin, and back then Joe had the speed to get him and the power to earn his respect. Roy was reasonably cautious anyway, so for these reasons Roy doesn't win by stoppage.
Roy is faster than Calzaghe, but only by the tiniest of margins, and neither man has dealt much with speed similair to their own, so this creates a massive unknown to add into the equation.
Both are quality counter-punchers, but Joe is the better inside fighter and has a rediculously high workrate for all 12 rounds if he needs to. Jones needs to stay on the outside, but if Joe can swarm him and get on the inside, Joe could outwork and subsequently outclass Jones.
Roy has never really looked that good against southpaws, and Calzaghe is an aggressive counter-punching southpaw who has blisteringly fast hands. As far as southpaws go, Joe is as awkward and unconventional as they come.
Joe can adapt his style and strategy however many times he feels like. We saw this in both the Hopkins and the Kessler fights. Joe lost the first 3 or 4 rounds in both, and yet adapted to find a style that worked and ground out a points win. Roy can also adapt, but can he adapt as many times and as well as Calzaghe can?
Joe performs better against better opposition, so against RJJ we would see Joe at his consumate best, and he would need to be, but so would RJJ. Both Calzaghe and Jones on the top of their game would trouble any fighter from any era.
On any given day this fight could go either way, but I would have to say if Calzaghe doesn't stop him, Jones wins a very close and possibly controversial SD.Comment
