Hehe, wasn't Tarver the guy who played Mason Dixon in the last Rocky movie and had also KO'ed Roy Jones Jr? Nope, never heard of him.

Then again, maybe Briggs-Ibragimov was a bigger event. (psyche!)

For that Flodizzleshizzle guy, just because you don't know who they are, don't assume no one else does either.

Do you really want me to answer that? Do you want me to track down all the dip**** posters who have made countless threads regarding this.

Talking about Cotto-Delahoya would break The World Awaits's record because Cotto is a Puerto Rican Superstar and he is more exicting fighter and he has more fans then floyd etc,.

True but Gomez was on the contender series,a mexican and has a win over Arturo Gatti. Also Margarito was on the undercard against Cintron
        A Puerto Rican.

And the Judah/Baldomir got poor Ratings and poor ticket sales. So outside of some hardcore fans hardly anybody seen that fight.

And Mayweather fights in his hometown have always done well.I seen
all the fights when he fought in his hometown.

Truthfully, is Floyd Mayweather Jr the reason you started watching boxing? He's the only guy I hear you talk about.

Cotto is the most worthy challenger out there. Period. Not De la Hoya (although he may actually have a better shot at winning), and certainly not Hatton.

All this bitching about drawing power, and comparing PPV sales, and ratings and whatnot is just fishing for a justification behind this fight not happening - and it can't really be justified. Transparently so.

Everyone with half a brain (about a quarter of the total posters here) knows that this is the fight. No one has to "call anyone out", no one has to hit any magical ratings mark - champions defend their belts against contenders. Great champions fight the best challengers. If Floy wants to be considered great, if he wants to mentioned in the same breath as guys like Robinson and Ali and Leonard, he needs to fight.

Personally, I think Mayweather schools him left, right, front, and back. But it still has to happen.

You could just tell me a few names. That sounds easiest.

Exactly, that's what our Boxingscene Boss Big Poppa failed to mention. Bob Arum specifically chose Gomez because of his popularity off The Contender.

Certainly he was better known then Baldomir. It didn't help.
