i always thoguht about roy having a chance, and honestly if a very focused, and prepared roy jones shows up id give him a slight edge. but robinson was one of the devastating punchers P4P and roy's chin isnt that great. if roy can box and use the ring he might sneak a close hard earned decision.
hopkins i give no chance. aint no way in hell do i think that ray would wait for bernard to counter punch him and then move in for a clinch. i actually see robinson knocking hopkins out in later rounds.
Just because Robinson is the consensus choice as the greatest ever, it doesn't mean he's unbeatable. Every man is beatable, especially when they fight as often as Robinson did.
Robinson had a few fights that were very close at welter and middle. He split 2 fights with Turpin, and this was before Ray's tap-dancing career.
Furthermore, guys are bigger nowadays because of different weigh-in procedures.
On an off-night he could be beaten, but Robinson was one of the best ever in rematches.
Maybe Roy Jones at middleweight because SRR wasn't at his best there. At welterweight.....no one.
Edit: I'd give Hagler and Monzon good chances against SRR at middleweight as well, but in the modern era, I think only Jones had the tools to beat him.
id pick hagler to beat robinson. robinson was beatable but he always came back thats the thing
hagler at middleweight would have a chance, but with robinson's movement and punching power, id favour Ray over him. but i suspect that he would do better than hopkins would
JCC, but he aint from today's era, but might have well been from SRR's era.
somehow i see that fight like 11 rounds of the first taylor fight. except robinson would be quicker, wouldnt gas out, and would punch harder, and there wouldnt be a knockdown 5 seconds before the bell. if anyone would have a chance of a knock out in this fight it would sure be robbie
