so basically I've learned two things from this thread that Cotto fans have told me otherwise.

1. Cotto is 100% reliant on his power to win fights by demanding these 8oz gloves

2. Cotto is no superstar if he can't attract an audience on the west coast


so why again does Mayweather HAVE to fight this guy?

Mayweather HAS to fight him because mayweather HAS to fight SOMEBODY.... why not the guy that everybody is demanding.

By "everybody", I mean the die-hard boxing fans on the Internets.

I think Cotto showed in the last four rounds vs. mosley that he is not fully reliant on power. he boxed well.

10 ounce gloves are not safer for boxers. They cause boxers to take punishment longer than necessary. A knockout is better within 8 rounds rather than taking a beating for 12. Fewer knockout's is also bad for the sport. I'm glad both Cotto and Margarito refused to where 10 ounce gloves.

I never liked the 10oz rule from the begining. Also people forget that Margarito gets to use the same damn gloves. Those 8oz gloves didn't seem to help Cintron too much.
