De La Hoya: "I Want Miguel Cotto in December"

I knew that Oscar would not go out fightin a chump. I really want to see him and Cotto , regardless of the bull**** fight with Floyd.

To those who dislike Oscar and and the press he gets, when he's gone , you'll appreciate him more. The guy could have milked it, and not fought any tough and worthy challengers. He took on all , and in losing , proved that taking on challenges is sometimes more valuable than clinging to the 0 on your record by avoiding resistance. He will always be one of my top dudes of all time, win some , lose some, but he will never be called a coward.

When this fight happens, I got Oscar.

you make it sound like he destroyed those guys. you make too big of a deal of that first round in the calzaghe fight. it was a surprise punch followed by hopkins motioning his body forward, calzaghe was NOT hurt, either in the first round, or the rest of the fight. hopkins hurt taylor? yes, in the first fight, dont remember which round but i think 8 or 9th, but so what, winky wright hurt taylor worse than hopkins did. i gotta say that in that first fight hopkins did more damage with his head than his fists. one round doesnt mean the whole fight, every fighter can have a moment at any given time in the fight. jimmy young knocked foreman down in the last round. would you say that foreman has a weak chin, or young has a big punch? NO, and NO. trinidad didnt have a great chin to start with, it was only his second fight at 160, and in the last round he was ready to go down from a push (thanks to the work hopkins did on him the previous 11 rounds)

overall hopkins has more snap than cotto does because of the weight obviously. but cotto is a stocky fighter, who commits and puts more power into his hooks to the body than hopkins does. the effect will be much greater, plus cotto knows that oscar was ko'd to the body. so he'll work on that, and expect him to come in to destroy the body.

and u make it seem like Cotto has this super power and can KO Oscar and he is comparable to Bernard hopkins. U seriously trying to make an argument that Cotto has as much power as Hopkins and then turn around say Hopkins has more pop because he is bigger. Well duh, that is waht it took to take Oscar out with a shot to the body. Cotto can't do it!


And Winky Wright hurt Taylor and had him on ***** street, huh? and tito doesn't really have a chin but has only KOed once by the executioner. WOW!!

your whole entire post is biased, and you saying things that i never said. if you got proof feel free to quote me. when did i say that cotto will knock out oscar, i said he's got a very good chance based on that fight. Hopkins was a middleweight his entire career, and now is a lightheavyweight, and punches harder, there's no dis*****g that. for the oscar fight, bernard's weight was a low 156 pounds (he came in that low to match oscar's speed) that's just 2 pounds less than a junior middleweight. he was never a big puncher. cotto made most of his career on overpowering his opponents and knocking them out with body punches. oscar showed that he was susceptible to the midsection punishment. however you want to put it, the shot that hopkins has fired on oscar's body looked nothing like the shots that cotto is able to unleash when he puts proper leverage behind them.

you telling em that trinidad has a chin already tells me that you now little of what you talking about. tito was knocked down plenty of times by not very big punchers, and wasnt known for his chin as much as his power. just because he's been knocked down only ONCE doesnt mean that he's george chuvalo. miguel never been knocked out either, yet people say he's got a shaky chin (because he's been down), which i admit he does.

True Oscar will be better off with mayweather sr. in his corner. But I dont think it will be enough for him to beat Cotto. Bottom line these guys that he is fighting are at their perfect prime age (Mayweather 31, Cotto 27). Oscars on the tail end at 35
