and second i dont think bob arum will risk to put cotto in the ring with margarito
i hope im wrong and marg-cotto gets made but arum is not that kind of risk taker
If Tony is so good and Cotto is so bad Who the hell Tony got 5 losses and Cotto still undefeated? not to menrtion that Cotto have fought better opposition than Tony!

Tony= Baldomir and when Cotto KO him he would go end up in Telefutura!!!!

If he gets by Mayweather, he says that a December fight with WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is the one he wants to end his career. [details]
What a ****. This is horrible news.

He'll put Cotto on the waiting list to wait and wait and wait after Margarito and then will decide at the last minute not to fight him like he did with Mayweather earlier in 2006.

It's like forcing Cotto to fight someone ****ty in november now.

        • WOW...

IF oscar beats forbes; then beats mayweather in a rematch and THEN goes on to beat cotto then retire; he's looking to retire as the p4p champ.

I think thats his goal; get as close to top p4p fighter...and cotto would obviously be the most logical choice after mayweather...

but i believe it he beats mayweather that he cant have just one more fight to end his career...all the questions; etc. about why not fight a 3rd mayweather fight; etc.

if he beats mayweather the next time i think he either has to pass on cotto and fight mayweather 3rd time; skip mayweather (which i dont think he'll do and live the rest of his life with all the critics questioning if he could do it 2 out of 3 times); or take a 3rd mayweather fight THEN cotto.

i think the option of fighting mayweather a 3rd time and fighting cotto after is the way he'll go (maybe not in that order...maybe fight cotto then the trilogy fight with mayweather).

but how about that? oscar really isnt just trying to get easy money...he's going in against the best compeition near his weight class he can find.

Maybe he was being honest when he said he's going to treat the fans...

          this is great...

i REALLY hope he does get past mayweather...it will be exciting to see cotto v. oscar...

a fight with cotto is a 100times better than a rematch with an older/out of his prime/blown up trinidad (i respect him but im sure majority of fans prefer to see oscar against cotto).

          im highly impressed with this.

          Thank you oscar.

          • For how long can all of the people be fooled all of the time??

I've read 12 pages of varying opinions. Only ONE said that Oscar won't fight Cotto. This doesn't surprise me, since fans get only into the pros and cons of any proposed fight, like "who's gonna win V who's gonna lose".... However...........I don't believe for ONE SECOND, that Oscar would fight Cotto for his LAST fight, since he either wants to retire with a win, or at least a good good fight, by which he'll be remembered.

And Cotto will chew him up and spit him out, that is, if he doesn't take pity on him and get into just "sparring" as he did recently with Alphonso Gomez. One could say in that fight, that Cotto was showing us all what a FIX it was, that there was NO REAL OPPONENT THERE at all. I wonder how legal such a fight actually is, where the winner is 100% pre-ordained already before the fight.

Oscar is a constant SELF-PROMOTER. He acquires a fine, healthy layer of blubber when he's not training- which is most of the time, and feels more comfortable these days in $2000 suits, although even they seem to fit him tightly. We know that Oscar has 2 fights BEFORE any projected fight with Cotto. And we ALL know that "there's many a slip 'tween cup and lip".

Even with the contracts signed, there's NO GUARANTEE and ANY fight will actually take place, because, ANYTHING can-and often does- happen.

In my opinion, Cotto would knock Oscar to pieces. Oscar is now NOT in the business of winning fights, but dealing in fights. He's in the business of THE BOXING BUSINESS, which is to make tons and tons of money, with EVERY deal. Some of his proposed "deals", like with Forbes and Mayweather, are, if you just think about them calmly, shameless exercises in enticing hard earned money from the pockets of well-meaning fans.

THAT'S Oscars business, and he has done it very well, now being worth an estimate half billion dollars. On paper anyway. Professional boxing is not a sport, or a game, it's a business, pure and simple.

Now u say u didn't say that fine, I'll let that go. But Cotto doesn't have more power than Hopkins not even when he was weighing a 156.

Now on to Trinidad. U telling me that just because u get knocked down that means You have no chin? I can't recall Tito looking out of it and a step from ***** street like Cotto has been in the past. it is fair to say Cotto's chin is suspect based off that but to suggest Tito has a weak chin because he got knocked down doesn't.
I thought that Ile Quartey knocked Oscar down.....No?
