Duran did quit once in a 33-year career but he more than made up for that, in my opinion, with his performances against Davey Moore, Marvin Hagler and Iran Barkley especially.
It was incredible to see a 37-year old, former lightweight champion Duran fight the 29-year old middleweight champion Barkley (who was more like a light heavyweight) and win, knocking the bigger man down in the 11th round.
"It was his heart," Barkley said later, "It just wouldn't go."Last edited by TheGreatA; 06-04-2008, 02:32 PM.Comment

Get that stomach cramp **** away from here..Duran was one of the greatest fighters of all time, he was deeply affected by his fans turning away from him after the Leonard fight, the emotion he showed after beating Davey Moore was evidence of this.
The stomach cramp excuse is actually believable because Leonard admitted he wanted to fight Duran as soon as possible after the first fight because there were reports that Duran had ballooned up to over 200 pounds in between fights, losing so much weight quickly could explain the stomach cramps.
At least Leonard is not going around MAKING EXCUSES like a damn girl.
Duran knew what was coming in the later rounds and bailed..
No need for excuses.Comment

There is nothing absurd about calling a guy that QUIT a QUITTER..
It's real..
