    Respect The Legends...(Joe Calzaghe)

I can understand Calzaghe and Hopkins trading insults before the fight to hype it up. Thats ok. But Hopkins is a legend and his career is over now, why does Calzaghe have to continue to talk **** about him. This is exactly why I don't like Joe Calzaghe....

    "NEWS FLASH
    Calzaghe: Low blow deliberate!
Joe says Hopkins is a cheat
WBC/WBA/WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe admitted to the London Daily Mail that he intentionally hit Bernard Hopkins low in the second round of their fight Saturday, but says Hopkins was faking it in the tenth when he went to the canvas from an apparent light shot below the belt from the Welshman. "What a crap actor," said Calzaghe. "He looked like he'd been shot in the balls, not hit. When I hit him there in the second round, that was proper deliberate. He'd knocked me down in the first so I had to give him a dig, didn't I? But the tenth — that was a lie, that one.....he's a cheat. He took three minutes off when I didn't touch him and he needed a rest. Joe Cortez should have been firmer. Hopkins is just a spoilt little girl, isn't he?"
Calzaghe also told the Mail, "I felt all along [Hopkins] was all mouth. He was a bully and they don't like being bullied. I could tell at the weigh-in he was
worried. I said to him, 'This is your last fight, this is the end for you now' and he didn't say anything at all."

If it wasn't for Hopkins, Calzaghe wouldn't have the great win on his record that he has now. The trash talk should stop after the fight, especially in the case of an old great who is leaving the sport. Its nothing against Calzaghe's fans, its against him.

But its the fact that Hopkins is done. And Hopkins gave him the opportunity to add a great win to his record. Without Hopkins Calzaghe's resume doesn't look as good as it does today. I just like the kind of fighters who after a fight respect the fighter they faught reguardless of what was said...

Even if Hopkins is talking **** still, Calzaghe should be the bigger man and not care. The fights over, Hopkins is over.

I see where you're coming from. After the fight the bull**** should be over.

But Hopkins was excessive all along, and he still hasn't admitted defeat. I don't know if all this can be easily dropped.

You do realise that the above quote is bull**** though, don't you?

As for respect, that's a two way street and Hopkins drove a tank the wrong way down it.

I think anytime a fighter of his status retires, there should be a certain amount of respect shown. Even when Mike Tyson retired, people in the media stopped hating him and thanked him for his time entertaining us all.

Calzaghe was deeply offended by Hopkins remarking that he hit like his sister, ect, at the post fight press conference. Hopkins made his comments matter-of-factly and walked out. Calzaghe trailed after Hopkins taunting, but Bernard had no reaction. Calzaghe was apparently deeply wounded, and still lashing out many hours later.

This was meant to be one of the uglier situations.

There are many, many people on this forum and probably others that will never look at each other the same way again. Special circumstances.. Whatever they are/were nobody knows.

                    Man, **** Joe Calzaghe!
He's a slapping joke now and his stock has plummeted. Even if he retires undefeated, being made to look a fool by a shot 43 year old in his first trip out of his home comforts dampens his credibility as a world beater.

Even though Bhop lost.. he still won.
