Did Joe Calzaghe win over American fans?

Calzaghe won the fight. I had him ahead on the cards....probably by two points.

But did he impress American fans? Can Joe headline a PPV in his next fight, or will he need a big name?

Sadly Joe, at 36, is truly past his best and last night was possibly his worst ever performance.

The worst performance I have ever seen, anyway, even when you take into account that he was fighting some champion at a totally different weight division from what he is used to.

The American fans that are ignorant (and there are not many of them) and who will only be judging him on last night's performance will think he is just decent, at best.

Joe has gone on record as saying he is fed up of fighting to somebody elses style just to impress the fans. He went to Vegas to win, and he did, I don't think he cares about the American fans. After all, they hardly give him the recognition he deserves. Stick to your true fans, who have known you were the best since day 1.

          That is true.

He seems to only really care about his fans that have stuck by him from day one.

          Mainly English and Welsh fans.

Although he did say really nice things about the American fans last night.

Hes a smart boxer, knows his stuff, but the only thing I dont like about him is that when he swings, he looks weird.

He didn't win me over. I thought he won, but his style is so boring to me. He was made out to be some super-fast, active technician with decent punching power. A lot of it had to do with Hopkins' D, but damn! I really don't know what anyone sees in Joe, besides him being from the UK, like a lot of people on here. After last night, I can see a huge difference between American and British boxing.

Nope, I never liked Calzaghe as a fighter..
First time I saw him was against Sakio Bika and was not really impressed.
Also, something about the way he punches annoys me..
it looks like he is slapping side to side.
