Calzaghe won easilly 116-111. I believe if it wasn't for the first round knock down he would have won an even wider victory. It took him a round or two to get back on track. The judge that scored the fight for Hopkins was either incompetent or corrupt. BoY! Hopkins attitude after the fight was worst than when he was squirming on the floor trying to get a rest. He should be known know as " Bernard Crybaby Beatin by a White Boy Hopkins"

To be honest I thought Hopkins landed more clean punches and hurt Joe a couple of times, Joe was a bit wild at times. when he was moving in and out and jabbing he did well but Hopkins kept catching him with the straight right i didnt take note of the score that well but thought that Hopkins might just nick a SD.

that's basically the fight in a nutshell right there. and this is also an instance where the compubox numbers can be misleading. true, there was a lot of holding, which means there was very little action. joe would rush in and throw his wild hooks, w/ both arms at the same time.......but in rounds that are very close, u have to look at who lands the biggest punches. all of hopkins shots were "clean", in the face type shots, and jope landed a few, but most of his punches were shoulders, or elbows, or "grazing" punches. if you look at compubox, you'd think joe whooped hopkins' ass, but if you actually look at who landed the "best" punches of each round, hopkins won the fight.
if a guy hit you 10 times on the arm, 1 time in the shoulder, and you catch him straight up the middle, smack in his face, who wins?????
having said that, props to joe, he definitely was more active. as a hopkins fan, i was disappointed b/c i'm sitting there waiting for hops to "turn it on" and he never did. i honestly thought joe c actually WON 4 rounds, where he landed the bigger shots, or was just more active in rounds where hopkins didn't land any big shots. overall, joe would land more punches, but his shots weren't clean, and most rounds, to me, were decided by basically 1 big punch, thats how close it was. joe's activity got him the decision, and while i dont think he won, no argument.
i was arguing with somebody about roy jones the other day. i said i thought when your guy finds himself in competitive fights, or even losing some of those fights, to guys he would've demolished if he were a few years younger....its time to hang em up. bhop, i respect what you brought to the game, i respect your performance last night. although, it was clear to me, you landed the "more telling" shots, i was also disappointed. beacuse had you fought joe c back in 2002, not going to wales, but making him come here, it's clear to me you would've taken him to the tool shed. w/e extra gear you had in that trinidad fight, you don't have it some 6 yrs later. joe c is what i have always thought- good fighter, nothing special. he was definitley given a "gift" last night. it wasn't b/c he was "more skilled," more "accurate", or a better fighter, it was b/c he was more active. certain things you can look at on film, and correct for your next fight....AGE you cannot. as a fan of yours, u should hang 'em up, cuz a guy like joec, wouldn't have been able to carry your jock strap, even a couple years ago...............................

to me it's simple, this is the same thing as the De La Hoya Mayweather fight, Joe Chased a guy all night that he could not catch....
Heres what I saw:
Round one is a clear 10/8 round because of the knock down, from there everyone agrees ring side that Bernard controlled the fight for half the fight and made Calzage miss and look awkward and kept catching him coming in... So if your counting that means where at 60/54 Hopkins minus 1 point deduction to Joe for going down in the first, so 60/53 Hopkins thru 6 rounds.
So from there nobody on this board can tell me they saw a 10/8 round for Joe Calzage at any point because none of that Pitty Patty stuff came even close to do any damage, to me that stuff what greatly ineffective but to each his own. So lets say the last 6 rounds are scored 10/9 for Calzage and by saying this i'm stretching because there was allot of swing rounds... So again if you are counting, thats 60/54 Calzage on the last 6 rounds...
So if you add it up, I have it 114/113 for Hopkins, the same score as the Judge that gave the fight to Hopkins, I really cant see how the other judges had a gap that big for Calzage at any time because again, compubox or not, that pitty patty stuff don't score nothing, to me you count clean and effective punches... Even the shot that hit Hop in the crouch was a pat, this guy did nothing to win that fight but chase all night like DLH did PBF
And I will add to this that Calzage better stay away from Roy because if a guy like B-Hop gave him problems and dropped him being that slow, Roy will dance and hit him in the likes he has never felt before and since he has no power, he will have no weapon to keep the bigger stronger Jones off him...
