no man that gets hurt by Calzaghe is lasting 12 with Bernard, let alone a legitimate puncher in Pavlik. Calzaghe is one of a kind because his workrate.

didnt know Nevada judges were scoring it by amateur rules, much props to Bernard "THE PEOPLES CHAMPION" Hopkins for showing us what we all knew about Joe, hes an overrated guy whos throws a lot of punches. Ill give Joe a ton of credit for not embarassing himself out there with a legend, but to think he won that fight is ridiculous.

i agree in part but.......

bernood should been stopped a point in rnd four when he held joe with his right hand while behind him and hooked in a left to the chin and cortez did nothing which was contrary to how he treated hatton but still, cortez did joe no favours.
what about when he butted joe on a break during rnd 6? a point off or what?
the constant holding and as enzo said "hopkins goes in with the head and then comes the punch" and joe dealt with all of this including the knockdown and turned it around.
as for hopkins cryin like "his sister" later in the fight it did show his age and he needed a breather and took it, cortez should not have allowed this but, he did.

also at this point ole poppy knew joe was winning and unlike a real fighter he cried like a *****.
joe was not controlled with skill nor was he "schooled" he was seen by hopkins as the winner before the fight and all he could do was foul.

joe went to the us and shut him up. PERIOD! but, like usual.....zzzzzzzzboringxxxxxxxxboringzzzzzz then come the excuses!!!boring!
lets face it, when your a champion you have to defend(poppy didnt)

Joe looked horrible against the older hopkins. Roys jones and hopkins would easily tool him in their primes.

What part didn't look good for you? The part where he landed more punches per round while Hopkins kept clinching and trying to land one punch at a time? Or the crooked judge that had bhop winning when they were clearly paid off by golden boy promotions?

Hopkins clearly lost the fight.

I like both Hopkins, as well as Calzaghe. Anyway, for whatever it's worth I gave Hopkins rounds one and two. Then I had Joe sweeping the next eight rounds. I honestly thought B-hop only won 3 rounds. Round 1, 2, and 11 after he regained his wind after acting on the low blow. Anyway, I hear people alluding to B-Hop losing because of his whiteboy comment. I do not think this is the case. The judge that had the biggest edge in Calzaghes favor was Mexican (116-111) the judge that had it 115-113 was ***ish, and the Judge that somehow thought that B-Hop won was a black woman. I am not one to dwell on race. However I feel a need to correct those who make inane attempts to play the race card when things do not go their way. Hopkins had a good gameplan, however he was overwhelmed by a younger, quicker, more intense fighter. Period.

Also, to those who say "look at Joes face, and then look at B-Hops face". Well, to be honest, Joe's face, while having a few marks on it, was not particularly bloody. 2nd, if we are to judge a fight by what a fighters face looks like after a fight then why even have score card? Why even have judges? They could fight, then after the fight we could text (like American idle) who we thought had a more bruised face and then they would be the loser. I think alot of people are just sore that Hopkins lost and are pulling at straws to try and convince themselves that he actually won.

Got to say I scored this in favour of Calzaghe by 3, but I can't see how one judge went 9 in his favour. That was crazy.

Calzaghe was busier and pressed the fight from Round 4 onwards. Hopkins was too cagey but very awkward, kind of what everyone expected. He did catch Calzaghe with a handful of good shots, but over 12 rounds that really isn't enough for me. Add to this the FACT that Calzaghe hit Hopkins more than any other fighter has, I'm not surprised Calzaghe won, but am a touch surprised it was by split decision.

I believe Calzaghe hurt Hopkins on two occasions during that fight, although I can't remember the exact rounds, Hopkins definitely winced once and shifted on the other occasion. Not a great contest, but definitely a very interesting contest.

...and although hit lowish during one round, what was the phanton low-blow all about later on. That fooled no one, and could have actually swayed a judge in to thinking, this guy is being outworked and doesn't fancy it.

Maybe Hopkins wants a rematch now, to be honest I do not want to see it as I can only see the same outcome. Hopkins being cagey, not working enough because he can't due to his age and Calzaghe outworking him.
