Joe won the fight on points. He worked harder, was more aggressive and deserved to win. But it wasn't as decisive as people are trying to make it out to be. Hopkins dropped him right out of the gates. After that, Joe did the work and should be pleased with the win. Neither man really punished the other though. I don't think he'll fare as well against Pavlik or Roy Jr. though. He should acknowledge that and retire or be ready to take his first loss back to Wales. Pavlik is too strong...if Hop dropped him with the short right hand, Pavilk will put him to sleep. And Roy is too good of a counter puncher. Joe leaves himself way open during his points-accumulating flurries. Jr will make him pay for that.

I agree that much of what Joe landed was "pitty-pat", but Bernard did virtually nothing in return. He grappled, moved away, and let go with the occasional pot-shot. Head to head, I'll take quality over quanity most times, but not when one guy is doubling the others output in both throws and lands and pressing the action all fight. I disagree that Jones is anywhere near as formidable as Hopkins is at this stage of their careers. Don't be fooled by RJ's showing against an ancient Tito Trinidad. He's shot.

No doubt Jr. has been on the backside of his career for awhile now, but he's still fast and has much better body movement than Calzaghe. BHop's movement gave Joe fits until he started to slow down and stay in the ropes to wrestle. Calzaghe seems overly-dependent on fighting in his own rythm to be effective, and I bet Jr's movement would disrupt that. With Joe chasing him around frustrated, I think Jr would find the openings to stab those body shots and uppercuts that would have won Hopkins the fight if he'd of looked for them.

Bernard won rounds 1-3, 7 (or 8), 10, and the 12 was level with 1 a 10-8 and that's just off the top of my head, I think 4-5 as well he sneaked

The guy has been away from his family since the week before Christmas, eating organic buffalo meat by himself, and you screw your own countryman like that?

Hopkins got off to a blinding start and looked a level above Calzaghe

Calzaghe just didn't landed enough clean shots to justify taking Bernard's title, any way you slice it up

Imagine Hopkins on 36-year-old legs and not 43-year-old... wouldn't be a race
imagine a 43 year old calzaghe fighting the b-hop from last night. 43 year old joe gets his ass sent to the hospital.

Hopkins lands 2 good hard straight right hands and he thinks he won a fight where Calzaghe landed a hundred more punches? I just don't get it. The replay showed that the first round knockdown was because Hopkins ran into Calzaghe after the hard right to try and tie up (like always) and wound up scoring by bumping him over while he was off balance. Joe was not hurt even a little. Then B-hop milks the low blow that landed just below the top of his high ass foul protector and had the force of a stiff wind, and Hopkins acts like he almost couldnt carry on because of the pain. I almost thought he was going to quit and give Joe a Hollow victory right there. Finally, the judge who had Hopkins up in the fight should go back to the boxing judges school for a refresher course. To give B-hop the fight 114-113 meant that they split the fight and the fake knockdown was the deciding factor. Who else in the ****in world, besides B-hop and his family thinks he wont half of the rounds? Oh, you do? Then get an eye exam and watch the fight again. That **** is ridiculous. B-hop got and I want to tell all those know it all's who dissagreed with me befotre the fight: Who is the expert now bitches? On a lighter note. Joe is going to get his first defeat when he fights Roy Jones next. Joe, trust me- dont sign. If B-hop gave you trouble, you don't want any of Roy. Not even now. Fastest hands-Welter up spells trouble for ya Joe.

you are ****in dumb ass. joe won but he didint own ****.

MY FIRST POST HERE - so be nice to me!!!!

The White Boy Won While The Loud Mouth Was Running Away, Holding Arms Since Round 1, Faking Two Low Blows, Clinching The Head To See If He Could Cut Joe, Looking Tireeeeeee After Round 8, And Making Excuses At The End. That's My Card.

I Guess Hopkins Should Be Man Enough Now And Accept It. The Spanish Transmision Of Hbo Was Constantly Criticizing The Use Of The Head By Hopkins. The Referee Should Have Taken Points Out From Him And From Holding Jc Arms The Whole Fight. I Would Say To Hopkins "what War You Came To Fight? You Talked Too Much And Joe Even Made Fun Of You. And That You Deserve For That Big Mouth Of Yours. Eat The Words Man. Even You Made Yourself Look Like A Fool With The Low Blows. Don't Have Boxer Dignity Anymore. The Whole World Saw That. ... And The Baby Crying At The End. Wow".

Those Of You Hopkins Fan: Maybe You Should Get It. He Didn't Fight, He Came To Run, Wait For Opportunities And Hold The Whole Nightttt. Did I Mention The Fake Low Blows... Please!!! Embarrasing.

Because Hop knew Joe was still all there. It was a flash KD which Hop finished with a push. Joe was never hurt in the fight except for that unbelievable head butt in the middle rounds which stunned Joe for a second. Hopkins was clearly hurting in the body though. The second knee Hopkins took was the result of a body shot, not a lowblow. But, Cortez took the bait, hook, line, and sinker. Cortez sucks. He's a friggin terrible referree.

Roids Jones, Jr.'s ability to deliver a counter shot is no better than Hopkins'. Furthermore, Jones doesn't have near the stamina that Hopkins has. Calzaghe will probably go into the Jones fight a slight underdog (Jr.'s past glory), but Calzaghe will rip Jr. a new arsehole. By rounds 8-9, Jr. will be done. Jr.'s only chance is to cheat with steroids or get an early KO. Calzaghe is elusive and has a great chin. He will beat Jones in all probability.

Calzaghe's biggest test would be against Pavlik. Pavlik has the ability to KO anybody and he will score because of his reach. Calzaghe's chin will be tested here, but if he can get Pavlik into the later rounds, he will win the fight....probably by a bodyshot KO or a UD. Calzaghe has the technique to get inside on Pavlik where Pavlik's power will be nullified. In any event, Calzaghe v. Pavlik should be a great fight and I wouldn't bet money on who wins it.
