There's also Hopkins comments which clearly tainted the water.. All we need do is look at the five dozen lashback threads aimed at what Hopkins said..

Would you really expect a poll like this to favor Hopkins, if Bernard had won by a larger deficit, even in theory?? Seriously? Honestly?
Addison. Rounds are scored on punches landed and ring generalship, Calzaghe clearly outlanded/outslapped what ever way people want to put it Hopkins in the fight. He controled centre ring for the whole fight too and pressed Hopkins, that would go under ring generalship.

I think some of the rounds were close but it was fairly obvious Calzaghe was winning them.

Ive broke the fight down and Calzaghe landed some big left hands in the fight, i saw Hopkins land two good punches after the 5th, at the end of the 7th and one in the 10th.

I cant give him rounds when he's done little in them and the other fighter has controled the ring and outlanded him.

I scored it 116-111 for Calzaghe, i gave him the 7th even though Nard landed that right hand but i wouldn't argue with anyone who scored it to Hopkins.

115-112 is the very least i can see in that fight mate.

PS. Ive seen about 5 or 6 online poll's and Calzaghe is over 70% on all them, the verdic is very one sided.

It puzzles me how 2 judges, the HBO crew and the Setanta crew can pretty much all score the fight the same and one judge is miles away from them.

    • Speaking of popularity, or not popularity persay.. But lack-there-of; I was one of the people screaming that Cory Spinks clearly beat Jermain Taylor on activity. And Spinks did so clearly with clean and effective shots - on top of greater output. But did anyone give Cory a second thought when they gave it to Taylor? Nah. How about when Castillo was clearly beaten by the more active Ngoudjo? Did anyone cry foul? Nah. The public didn't blink.

Activity is a major sticking point - when it's convenient.

This is about professionals and amateurs - this fight. Professional scoring, and professional comprehension. Amateur scoring, and amateur and novice comprehension. I'm satisfied with what I've seen. No surprises.

Am actually shocked he scored it for B-hops, Maybe i need to watch this fight again.

Clearly outlanded? Ok, no need to continue.. I've heard enough.

Most of the media sitting ringside scored it this way. Clean and effective punching. Effective aggressiveness.

I'm just waiting for gifs and highlight videos of Calzaghe actually landing punches. Still waiting..

BBC Wales showed a series of clips congratulating Joe and it featured air punches. Shots that were literally hitting nothing but air.

Im a fan of Calzaghe that much is true but he's not my favorite fighter, my favorite just fought pbf back at the end of last year in a fight he could not win, so if your implying that i show bias then your so far off the mark they must have moved it.

I call it like i see it, i wanted Hatton to win the fight against pbf but i knew from the get go he was out-matched, the result i expected and had no complaints about.

Calzaghe wasn't over matched though, he had a great chance in that fight and was rightly the favorite to win it which he did.

Bias? I'll never know. Plenty of people who have no bias whatsoever have joined the herd. There are plenty of reasons for things. All of which can be explained. Like I said; I'm satisfied with what I've seen. No surprises.

Hopkins laid back and kept himself overtly defensive despite urging from his corner. That's very fortunate for Calzaghe isn't it? Imagine if Hopkins had been more aggressive.

I'm very satisfied with what I saw. It was everything I expected. I know who the better fighter was, and I know who the more determined man was. That's what life is about. Talent and ability is a distant second to initiative and a strong sense of urgency. Across the board.

Hopkins embarrassed the sport and Calzaghe can't help his embarrassing ways. Boxing lost.

                    • I think Hopkins held and grabbed for 12 rounds for a reason. He knew if the fight was open and Calzaghe got into any kind of flow he would not have lasted the pace. That much is very obvious.

It was fought at quite a slow pace compared to other Calzaghe fights and Hopkins still had to feign injury and take a few minutes off because he was gassed.
