Yeah but American boxing judges only want to see aggression, look at De La Hoya/Mayweather as a prime example. Not comparing the two fights because they were nothing alike, but Oscar came forward all night, threw a bunch of nothing and kept getting tagged with countershots yet one judges thought he won it. And it was 1 point away from being a draw.

I think counterpunching is slowly but surely becoming a lost artform in the American public's eye.

if you score it by round joe clearly won. your not supposed to give credit for excessive back peddaling, clinching and punches that don't land.

You are wasting your time arguing with chessplayer. He is under the impression that Calzaghe only landed one punch in the entire fight.

The mistake you are making is scoring with the criteria of "Clean Effective Punching By The Guy I Wanted To Win".

This is boxing, not amatuer pad work where you miss alot of punches.

Seriously. Calzaghe wasn't landing anything serious, and to hear that Calzaghe landed the most punches ever landed on Hopkins is funny. Most of those were from inaccuarate windmill punches that were counted, but really missed.

I mean I don't hate Calzaghe, but he won this fight by just being in the middle of ring missing most of the time, while B-hop was landing clean. Its ridiculous.

Hopkins did not do enough to win...and he got clowned.

I had Calzaghe with a close but clear win. I thought it would go to Hopkins...that would have been a robery.

HaHA.. Some of the desperation shown here is just kleenex worthy. I want to break out the pampers and baby powder.. Change a few diapers.
