Should top British fighters have to go to the states to get recognition???

Well...they should not have to,but....to fight the best, and be thought of as a true champion, they do.
And yes, there is a double standard...based on the past, which may not hold water today,but....
In the history of boxing...how many of the truly great fights have been held in Europe???
I think of the Ali fights, the Sugar Rays, the Louis fights, the Lennox Lewis fights, the Hagler fights...name the champion, and the fights were on this side of the pond.
The best fighters are now from all over the world...but here is where the money and respect is.

I don't think it's a question of location more so than fighting a fighter that is dominating. Most fighters are here in the states because here is where some of the big time promoters are therefore, fighters that are overseas are having to come to the U.S. to fight. Besides there are several U.S. boxers that go overseas...Winky Wright made his career overseas before getting his shot in the states with Shane. Steve Cunningham has fought several times outside of the U.S. Recently, it seems current venture to travel to Europe...hell even Mayweather is talking about fighting Ricky Hatton at Wimbley.

I think this another post that was made simply to arouse viciousness between British and American boxing fans.
Of course British fighters have not got to go to the great US of A to be recognised as great. It is just a silly question.
At the moment we have two Undisputed Champions of the World, and one World Champion who has been Champ for well over a decade.

No they shouldn't but it seems it's the only way to get recognition. It's a shame really as british fighters have to prove themselves by going abroad but the Americans can fight in their own backyard but not get any criticism.
