  • Oscar was the easiest defense either Joe or 'Nard ever took

    and Tito isn't far behind.

Beating "names" doesn't matter at all when they are from lower weight classes.

Tito was repeated knocked down by welterweights, outboxed by a few as well.

Oscar was great but the 2003 middleweight Oscar was not

I was just watching a bit of Calzaghe/Brewer.

    That was a war. Seriously.

I forgot about that fight. Joe won fairly comfortably but I'd rank that above beating a little Oscar.

Tito had *****s in his armour but he was something like 40-0 and his middleweight debut had been DEVASTATING. I really dont think its fair to take any credit from Bernard for that win. Trinidad was an elite fighter. And he had grown into the middleweight limit. He was always a huge welterweight

Oscar was gifted his "WIN" and belt and never to this day proved himself a legit Middleweight.
And who did Tito ever really beat?
          At MW?

I was just about to say that.

Now if I say 'chink' they won't block it though.

From the first time I watched it until my most recent viewing earlier this evening I'm unchanged in my view; Hopkins vs. De La Hoya was rigged from the opening bell. Hopkins is a horrible actor - but De La Hoya managed to give the performance everyone remembered. Bernard was so delicate, so hands off with Oscar, it was irritating by itself as an isolated subplot.

The Tito case is at least debatable. Still I wouldn't rank it among 'Nard's top wins, nor can it be compared favorably to beating Jeff Lacy (which many are doing).

Who in the hell was there at middleweight at the time? All of Bernards critics often cite the fact that the middleweight division was very poor. Tito beat the WBA beltholder Joppy by brutal KO in round five, Bernard unified with Holmes the WBC champion. The fact is Trinidad beat everyone before him. He had beaten the best welterweights in the world (Oscar, Whitaker, Campas, Carr, Pineda), the best light-middles (Vargas, Reid) and he fought for the middleweight title in his first fight. To try and discredit Tito is plain ******.

Kessler started at JMW. That's lower than Super. Guess you just took some credibility away from Joe C.
