how did these guys become multiple champions and get multiple shots at the title when the guy who knocked all 3 out only got 1 shot at the title? david tua got only 1 shot and it had to be against a prime top 10 atg like lennox lewis?

yes he did. bryd deserved his shot. byrd also flew to germany to fight both klitschkos. not many fighters did that.

doesn't change the fact that david only got one shot at the belt while guys he have beaten has had multiple chances.

It was more of Tua not training properly and not really having that desire for a title. It seemed as if he was just satisfied with being a contender because after the loss to Ibeabuchi, he had a low work ethic an came in out of shape. He was 240+ when he fought both Lewis and Byrd, peak Tua weighed around the early 200s or even less. If Tua came in shape for those fights, then he would have has a chance to actually beat those fighters. Chris Byrd would have probably beaten Tua anyway though, his chin and defense is too good and Tua was always behind on points when he would score his knockouts. I definitely agree with what you are saying though, no name fighters like Thompson and Austin are getting shots at titles and Tua isn't.

tua was at his best at 220. i remember when he was 200 lbs. when he started fighting doesn't even look like the same guy.

the step aside money from lennox lewis really hurt him. he gained a lot of weight and didn't train that hard and he was fighting nothing but bums which dulled his skills because he didn't want to risk his no. 1 ranking while he was waiting for his title shot against lewis. worked out in lewis' favor though. don't know if tua could've beat someone as big and skilled as lennox but the 220 lb. prime tua would've done a lot better than the out of shape 250 lb. version.

The truth about the Lewis-Tua fight is that Tua got hurt pretty bad in the first round and could never get off after that.
He's said that before in numerous interviews.
But he stayed the course and took his beating like a man.
No one beat a jabbing Lennox Lewis anyways.

If you look at the WBC rankings, I swear Tua has ko'ed half of those guys at one time or another.
