They should have come to Wales.

    tut tut.

But don't the casino's pay **** loads. Would have been a better spectacle.

I think fights over here are better spectacles.

Yeah, Calzaghe sold 10K tickets while Bernard couldn't sell the same number. Yeah so it was TEam Calzaghe's fault. YEAH. Joe is the second biggest draw in boxing after Hatton. PEriod. DLH (AMerican's biggest star) has problems tol sell 30k cheap-ass-tickets in LA (20dollar haha).
For the Kessler fight over 50K ppl came with tickets starting ~50punds which equals 100$ (US-primetime!)
The fight should have been in the UK with Calzaghe getting the lion's share.

Name me one american fighter who could take 5,000 fans across the pond. Actually, name me one who would take 5,000 fans across state lines. That's a phenominal amount of people to cross the water especially so soon after Hatton's beating.

Over 10k ppl from the UK will make the trip.
But the ticket-prices are really incredible. Especially for a no-draw like Hopkins.

Someone said the UK was sports mad.
              I believe it.
Now if it's a college football game in Michigan or Tennesse they get 100k people without batting an eyelash, but boxing you'd have to go far back in history to find that.
It's amazing you read about early fights before the days of tv and they had 100-120k fans.

It is actually the fault of Golden Boy.

The ticket prices are absurdly high, even for such a big fight between two legends of the sport.

Yeah i think this definitely should have taken place over here in the UK, would have been more money for both fighters, a lot more! But Hopkins didn't want to do that did he! I think hopkins is a great fighter, but I think he over estimates his drawing power!

As for the british fans, the fact that so many went over to watch hatton probably has hurt calzaghe, i know not all hatton fans are calzaghe fans but many of them are.

I went over to hatton, and my flight cost £400, acommodation was £300, and spent £1,000 pounds whilst out there pretty expensive!

Cal had to come here or he'd never hear the end of it and he knows it.
