there are different types of "pressure fighting". you can press your opponent and still "Box" picking your spots and giving them angles to deal with. you can also go the katsidis way and just be overly agressive trying to overwhelm. "Boxing" is so much more than just fighting backwards picking off your opponent's weakness and evading danger by moving away.
The Problem With Pressure Fighting

not to mention the styles have evolved drastically through out the years that there's different shades of each style and a lot of hybrids who incorporate more then one.there are different types of "pressure fighting". you can press your opponent and still "Box" picking your spots and giving them angles to deal with. you can also go the katsidis way and just be overly agressive trying to overwhelm. I think someone who throws that many punches is considered a pressure fighter, but I guess it all depends on interpretation.
The use of a jab distinguishes pressure fighters from slugger for you, and the use of a jab distinguishes great fighters from sub-standard fighters.Comment

yep tell that to juan diaz guy has lil power but hes a pressure fighter when he could easily box to an udI am probably wrong, but it does seem like a dumb idea to fight that way if you don't have to, considering it is difficult to control your opponent's location in the ring.
I have also seldom seen a pressure fighter change their stripes in the middle of a fight they are losing, which makes me think that most pressure fighters do have trouble switching their game plan up if it isn't working.
why not box? cuz he is mexican and a warriorComment

I think you are probably right about Juan Diaz. I just don't get that mentality though. It definately shortens one's career, because they are going to get hit a lot more. But to each his own I guess.Comment

some fighters just want money and some want glory. Morales could have easily boxed all the time but he didnt. just depends how you want to be remembered. If Morales boxed his whole career, he wouldnt be who he is today.Comment

margarito is both a puncher and a swarmer
cotto is both a puncher and a boxer
so i dont see how to predict by that formulaComment

There is a bit of a problem with your formula though...
Even though both of the first matches in Swarmer > Boxer did indeed go to Duran and Frazier, by the time the rubber match had ended, the boxer had gone up 2 to 1 over the swarmer.
I think boxers have the hardest time with swarmers, but they do seem to fair better against them than other styles do against their kryptonite counter-style.Comment
