I think you boys are getting overly concerned about this, possibly embellishing a bit. Possibly making a mountain out of a mole hill.

He's clearly strong, and well skilled.. I wish they would stop doing this. I was very disappointed to his left glove when he said his traditional prayer upon entry to the ring last night.. You could barely read the Cleto Reyes label it was so covered in layers of tape.. I winced every time he hit Gomez with his jab and left hook - and sure enough Alfonso's face was ****ed up in no time. From some jabs? In like 2 rounds?? I know dude is a strong, good hitter - but this sport has, and has had, plenty of good strong hitters and these kinds of results are bizarre.
I won't lie, this subject makes me, and I'm sure everyone else extremely uncomfortable... Cotto is a great talent, no need for this **** if that what's going on. Sincerely, I hope I'm wrong about this.Comment

Most fighters don't do it because it isn't effective. At best, it works for about half a round, at worst, it cuts of circulation to your hands and makes it very uncomfortable.Comment

Help me out, who are some of the other fighters who do it?Comment

Yeah I figured it was to make the foam above the knuckles compressed so the impact would be with more force and less cushioning of the blow. It makes sense if the glove is pulled tight the foam would be compressed as well but like you said in an earlier post as the fight went on the glove would lose the skinning effect pretty quickly.
I was thinking if there ws a way to make it more permanent, like by forcibly compressing the foam under high pressure to make it less effective.Comment
