Gomez was ranked 9th under Cotto. Hatton wasn't even ranked on the same weight division as Mayweather. Junior Middleweight Champion v Super Lightweight Champion! That's right, instead of taking on another Junior Middleweight, or taking on a competitive Welterweight; Mayweather stooped down two divisions for his next fight. Cotto at least fought a ranked contender in his own division.

And yes, Cotto is great, not because I'm a fan (for money, I'd pick Mayweather over him still, as a fan I want Cotto to win), but because I've been following him since his Cesar Bazan fight, and he's a GREAT fighter, and so is Mayweather.
